Obviously not as a permanent signing, and I know Chelsea aren't seemingly keen on loaning him, but for the second half of the season, would this be terrible?
I do not want to inflate more transfer values for other teams.

He’s a spent force. It would be like signing Gazza in 2026 in the hopes that he can recapture his Glasgow Rangers form.

He’s been finished for about 2 or 3 years now. Just runs into people all the time. Been a pretty painful fall from grace

Emery is a miracle worker but even this might be a stretch. The wages would be the main problem, he’s on an absolute tonne at Chelsea

We’ve already got 1 struggling English winger on high wages

He has made it SO clear it’s a London club only so thankfully we are ruled out. I don’t hate the guy at all but the years of signing him are long gone

Oddly, I think he’d be decent at West Ham, but I wouldn’t want him at Villa.

Personally I think we’d be better off trying to steal Brennen Johnson from Palace. Sterling is spent but credit to him for not going to Saudi Arabia.

Awful idea – he’s been terrible for a number of years and even worse on the right side where we need help

He’s utterly shite!!

If there’s a man I want Villa to loan it’d be Julian Brandt. Heavy dortmund core at Villa. Youri looks shattered due to the lack of natural ability we have in attacking roles and if he gets injured I begin to really worry about our midfield outside of Bouba and Onana

Why are people obsessed with the idea of taking horrendously overpriced old people who haven’t performed well for years on loan like they’re suddenly going to perform? We don’t have this money to burn

He was done 5 years ago….and he’s only 31.

He’s stolen a living for years. Absolute waste of space, avoid

Wants to stay in London thankfully.

Was having Coutinho for 5 years not enough? No. I fear sterlings ship has long left the Chelsea docks
