It's normally an exaggeration to say this, but with Gabby… I genuinely feel as though whatever I hear him say, I think the exact opposite is true. This man is truly the worst football pundit I have ever heard, and that is a VERY low bar
He hasn't called him fat, he's called him overweight. He was actually fat before Bielsa came to Leeds. Bielsa got him fit and gave him a specific role that got him in the England team. Since the Euros he seems to have developed a bad attitude. He did a weird interview where he questioned Bielsa playing him at centre back and I think he said something about his training methods as well. He also went missing while Leeds got dragged into a relegation battle and Bielsa lost his job. He was a star at the Euros but only got a brief sub appearance at the World Cup. If he was in the same form he was at the Euros he could have made the difference against France. He's now at a club competing for titles and he's hardly been seen. It's time he was called out.

Lets be honest Philips is never going to start over rodri only way that happens is if rodri gets injured but more than likely even if that happens pep will chose a formation what keeps Philips out of it. only reason he bought Philips is so no other team did basically making it impossible for him to progress with his career, yes he's 25 or 26 right now but still youngish for a footballer now. Like look at certain careers what have been ruined by going to city and not getting the time on the pitch at all, yes city has made some great talent, but they have also ruined some great talent as well so no one gets those players.

Gabby is being hypocrite. Pep said the right thing. The guy has gain a lot of weight and Pep is perfectly right. Gabby can't decide on what Pep should or have said.
There may be such a thing as "fat-shaming" if you walk up to a complete stranger and comment on their weight, but this is a football manager commenting on the irresponsibility and lack of professionalism of one of his own players. Showing up for training fat is like showing up drunk: you are unprepared to train and play because of your own behaviour.
Why shouldn't a manager be honest? This wasn't a mistake on Phillips part, this was irresponsibility.
And he won't be just a kilo or two overweight, because natural weight fluctuations due to hydration levels are more than that. This will be a significant amount of fat, which will have been determined with caliper tests. Every player has a history of baseline stats for body fat % and corresponding caliper measurements of the amount of fat at exact locations on the body (this has been done for decades). Phillips has seriously screwed up, or we wouldn't even know about it.
In some cultures talking about weight is not a thing like it is here. Often you'll be described as fat to distinguish you from others but not as an insult. And wouldn't it of been worse to lie??! He was asked

Pep is upholding his high standards, Philips had a week off after England and camber back overweight, I assume it's less than 2kg maybe even less than 1kg. Aguero was dropped for a big game because he was 1kg overweight
