Reaction from Mark Bowen after Kieffer Moore’s second-half header secured a hard-fought point for Wales in their Euro 2020 opener as they drew 1-1 with Switzerland in Baku.

The Cardiff City forward had already had the best chance of the first half – forcing an acrobatic save from Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer – but Wales rode the wave of Switzerland pressure to go in level at the break. Shortly after the restart, the Swiss took advantage of their numerous set-pieces as Breel Embolo nodded home from Xherdan Shaqiri’s corner.

  1. Wales are crap. They really had to rely on Danny Ward and got bailed out by an offside call.
Turkey and Italy going to put 3-5 goals past them. Easily.

  2. That first half was so dead and I felt bad that Dan James didn't get the whole 90 because he was the best player for Wales today. IF Wales play like that vs Turkey in front of so many Turkey fans on Wednesday, it will be a tough game. – England supporter

  3. It’s hilarious because everyone was saying Switzerland are finishing bottom of the group with no points no look at us

  4. Every table I have looked at online has Wales placed 2nd in Group A, except Sky's table, where they are 3rd. Does anyone know what the rule is here?

  5. Mark Bowen clearly doesn't really know the situation between Turkey and Azerbaijan, ok most outsiders don't know it so all good.
It's not like in Azerbaijan there many Turks, there are more Russians, Lezgins, Talysh, Armenians, Avars in Azerbaijan than Turks, it's just that the people are very close, Azeri language is close to turkish, the Azeri people are Turkic people but most importantly Turkey always had the back of Azerbaijan, when they lost a war against Armenia in the 90s, even when turkey were super poor and had lots of inner conflicts and when Azerbaijan won a War last year over the territories they lost in the 90s. The Relationship between these Nations is similar to Wales and England i'd say.
Baku is 100% a home game for Turkey, maybe even more so than if the game had been played in some Turkish cities.
