Why would we get rid of such a player that looks promising? Did you see his assist for Lamela in the Audi cup final! We need someone with this energy and desire!

Nkoudou did well this summer

Where are you, Chris? I see palm trees and clear blue skies (and what is probably the wall/railing of a hotel balcony) so it's definitely not in this country. Also, you're starting to looked tanned so Clacton it isn't.
As far as Nkoudou is concerned, you know that thing about you only get one chance to make a first impression? Well, he blew his. He signed for Tottenham on 31st August 2016, which (unusually for Mr Levy) was transfer deadline day. It was the summer that Man Utd signed Paul Pogba for a world record fee and Zlatan for free; Man City signed Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan, John Stones (well, you can't win them all) and er, Aaron Mooy; whilst West Ham signed Alvaro Arbeloa. Remember him? No me either. Good job he was unattached.
It was also the summer we sold Nacer Chadli to West Brom (sob) and signed Vincent Janssen (hooray?), Big Vic and "Ooooh, Moussa Sissoko!" (Definite hooray!) Btw, Nkoudou came in from Marseille and Clinton Njie went the other way on loan as part of the deal.
So what happened with GKN to spoil things right from the start? Did he walk into Hotspur Way with shit on his shoes? Well, no but he might as well have. When he arrived at Spurs he was 21 and had three seasons as a professional behind him. He thought that he'd made it having signed with a big club abroad but a certain Mauricio Pochettino had other views.
According to what I heard not long afterwards, on his first training day Nkoudou rocks up in some massively expensive piece of automotive exotica and Poch is standing at his window looking out at the car park. In short the Magic One was appalled. Here's this kid who's only just starting out on his career and instead of getting his head down and concentrating on working hard to improve, all he seems to care about is goofing off in flash motors. That is the first impression that Poch got of him and it stuck because GKN didn't ever really do much over the following three years to change that opinion. Certainly Sean Dyche, was happy enough to see his loan spell at Burnley come to an end and although he wasn't really caught up in the train wreck that was Thierry Henry's spell in charge at Monaco, Leonardo Jardim wasn't exactly impressed either considering he suffered a hamstring injury three weeks after arriving and was basically out for the rest of the season after a grand total of three appearances.
In total contrast, one of MP's favourites is Sonny who owns, or at least has owned, amongst other things a Bugatti Veyron and who has famously (famously in South Korea that is) long been associated with a drop dead gorgeous actress named Yoo So Young (really!) who's six years older than he is. And that may be how he conducts himself in his homeland but here in London he lives with mum and dad in a flat in Hampstead and has promised his father (who is an ex-professional and owns a football academy in SK) that he won't get married until he retires from playing so that he won't have any distractions. He's not exactly living like a monk but he is very focused which is exactly how Poch likes his players.
