Picking McGuire means he’s lost credibility for me. The guy hasn’t played well for a year and not been being picked and by southgates picking him.
Southgate hasn’t blooded enough players during his time and stuck to his favorites we now getting into a situation where we don’t have enough experienced players at international level.
Maguire has been on a downward spiral ever since his drunken antics while on holiday. The worrying thing is he does not have a better centre half playing alongside him to cover for his deficiencies. My fear is when he comes up against a world-class centre forward in the World Cup he will cost us, it is OK to say Southgate trusts him because he has never let him down, but Maguire has let his club side team down for the last two season. Therefore, logically it is only a matter of time before he lets England down, I am not saying it is Maguire fault, and I am sure he will try his best for England, but the way things stand at the moment he looks like an accident waiting to happen. I hope I am wrong and win it for our new King.
Ben White is an absolute specimen. A sharp, switched on athlete in the peak of his game, playing at elite levels. Been one of Arsenals best players, yet that slow donkey Maguire gets called up. We will never know the epic levels this England team could reach cos of weak minded Southgate.
Why would England take him anyway?
To simply put, he's not a good footballer, and also he's a liability.
Teams are going to mop the floor with Maguire if Southgate decides to start with him in critical games!

I'm not English but I am an Arsenal fan and I don't see how Ben White isn't at least in the squad. He's simply good at football. Defending, attacking, doesn't matter. I don't see why a coach wouldn't want a player like him to mess around with, he gives you different options. He could even play as a midfielder if you needed him to.

Every England manager makes the same mistake. The Maguire situation is like the Joe Hart situation when his performance levels dropped significantly but the manager kept backing him and waited for him to make blunders against Iceland and Wales before dropping him. Southgate, like many managers before him, is reactive not proactive. As a fan, you can sense who has a mistake in them. Maguire will start in Qatar and he will likely make a costly mistake. Take him out of the firing line now before it's too late.
