It takes hard, dirty, ugly work in order to play beautifully. Nothing which Ange is implementing – creativity, flow, movement, chances on goal, etc – occurs without fitness, high work rate, physicality, and relentless pressure. None of those things in a vacuum are attractive, but they all make for attractive and effective football.
Honestly, apart from Jota, I don't think Celtic have a single player who is exceptionally dazzling on the ball. But every man on the squad works ugly in order to play beautifully.
I'm paraphrasing, but the late American ice hockey coach, Herb Brooks, used to say that a wolf may have long, sharp teeth, but it's his legs which feed him. He also said that he doesn't look for the best players – he looks for the right ones.
