This isnt a foden problem this more Englands problem. I mean you said it we dont have those mavericks we can build around, we also arent as coherent to compete tactically as a team either.
But we do have talent and i think our best hope is emulating a Spain'24 or even Italy'22. Teams that played in a way alien to a southgate.
And the thing is… I kinda agree with Gary. My philosophy is getting the best out of foden is getting the best for england. Short and Simply a more fluid front line and midfield.

Foden is replaceable due to players like Palmer, Bellingham, Gibbs White, Rogers, Saka, Eze and Maddison has everything Foden has for England but more consistent than him. Neville is a tool and don't believe what he says. He's the same guy claims Foden is like Scholes for but Scholes was a different player to Lampard and Gerrard and England in their Golden Generation in the 2000s lacked a player of Scholes and Carrick. Some players are better at club football than international football and Foden falls in that category.

The trust isn't really there..that's probably because he hasn't done it with England.
When Jude, Palmer or saka are on pitch, you can see that players kind of give them the ball and expect them to do something..whereas with foden that energy ain't there.
They prefer to play through other players instead of Foden. For someone like foden this cuts his ability in half and you can see it effects his confidence.

Shearer in 95-96 was 24 turning 25, same age as Foden this season, he wasn't an English legend yet, it was his third 'elite' season, he was just a really talented English player in his pomp. Same as Foden. Foden just crashed 19npg from midfield/wide as an attacking midfielder carrying the most successful English club in the 21st century.

When discussing Foden, you need to compare him to David Silva, that was the guy he was supposed to be replacing, he could not replace Silva in the City team til he left, different levels
