Manchester City expert Steven McInerney from Esteemed Kompany reflects on the Citizens’ 2-2 home draw with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League last weekend.
Speaking to Sports Mole, McInerney suggests that “proper footballer” Omar Marmoush – who contributed to both of City’s goals against Brighton – has sent a “slight warning” to out-of-form Phil Foden.
McInerney also discusses the “question marks” that have emerged around Jeremy Doku and Savinho and shares his thoughts on whether they have the attributes to develop into world-class wingers in the future.

Great discussion . Completely agree. Love Omar. Hopefully Bobb & Echeverri can play and compete against Foden & Savinho who are lacking confidence, finishing & performance. Why can’t Pep improve Doku, Savinho & try Echeverri. Pep transformed teenager Messi in Barcelona FC. He has to change his favorites Silva, Gundo etc & give chance to Echeverri, Reis & O’ Reill. We could have won so many games, if we had right balance of younger players with only 1-2 seniors. Current Barcelona side is full of youngsters & few experienced team just like they had during Pep’s time but they are performing so well due to more direct play instead of passing around with no creativity.
Why is echeveri not even in match day squad give the kid a chance we won't get top four we have nothing to lose he should start building for next season
Fodens selfishness and lack of creativity is affecting all the attacking players especially Haaland. It’s the truth we have to accept, Haaland does a lot of runs in behind and getting ignored most of the time, so my question is when is the last time Foden made a through ball to Haaland when he was sprinting. I cant remember because it almost never happend. Two years ago with KDB in good form we saw these through balls to Haaland like every two games. What City needs is a creative playmaker like Wirtz. For me there is no place for Foden in that team so the best case would be to sell Foden asap, his price is still high, they should let him go.
I would play Maarmoush on the left over Doku, Foden through the middle and Savinho on the right, like we did against Newcastle. Worked quite well
Doku needs to work on his ability to whip a cross in whilst running, same with Savinho.
Thing is, foden was king last year because of Rodri, KDB, Alvarez. He is the Right age, & talent, but not a leader. He needs to be spoon feed! Truth is, This year, he has become the kings footman. Fans are stuck on last year, get over it!
Well done Steven, by just mentioning the Moos. Without him we would be in serious trouble. JG, is a center back not an LB, when under pressure he default's to the center 😜also he is lost without Kovacs playing? FODEN has dropped off a cliff this year. Last year king, this year poor, — no good to us this year!!!
You'll need to stop with this past thing! Your heroes of the past are history, move on!!!!!!
