I never understood bringing him to ManCity. He was never a good fit for that system. He was a very above average player for that Villa side, he is not special for any ManCity side. Yes, his technique for holding the ball improved, but not really much else. In my heart I wonder if they thought it would fill seats, something ManCity does struggle to do. He was very, very popular at the time. I never understood Southgate either. England would struggle until late in the game, then Grealish would come on and start raining balls into the box where Harry Kane could flip them in. So I asked, why not start him and rain balls into the box from the start? Then he burned out and it stopped. Finally, Southgate decided to defend people to death, go down by a goal, suddenly attack like the England we all hoped to see, get a goal, and then go back to defending to death. As if England going to penalties was a great strategy.
