[2023] It’s Guanyu! Pan Hongshen – Guandao – 8.97 – Traditional Wushu Taolu National Championships
Yup, this happened. Pan Hongshen from Guangzhou Sports Institute showed up in his best Guanyu outfit and competed in Pudao/Guandao! And he got 2nd place!
Guanyu's weapon, supposedly, had one particular, outstanding trait: it was HEAVIER THAN SHIT. Literally the kind of weapon that an average soldier couldn't even bring to bear in a training exercise, let alone fight with in a protracted military engagement. Its rough analogue from the West, the halberd, is a six-foot-plus polearm that could, in fringe cases, approach eight pounds in weight. Guan Yu's horse-cleaving Green Dragon is said to exceed that heft five times over, with conservative estimates still putting it at 40 lbs or more.
This is, of course, nonsense.
No one would ever being such a thing to war. It'd be suicide. Still, it's safe to say that the object this man is waggling has about as much to do with the legendary guandao as does a broom handle.
Such a bad tehnique to use it, looks shorter than a sword, literally no reach. A spearman or a rapier user would've pierced him in no time. Too much dance, never struck more than 40cm in front of him.
0:26 ah yes..was that the ephemeral dancing blossom petal when lu meng was chasing after him? brilliant. hao! great kung fu!
its been a while since i checked into chinese martial arts and this is what i see. you're doing our culture a huge disservice when it comes to chinese martial arts by continuing this stupid wushu tournament stuff. i'm not hating on the guy cosplaying as guan yu but on everyone who dance around like a monkey. ali said it best, float like a butterfly sting like a bee. our people are great at floating but they can't sting for shit. mma/muaythai/karate(i dont like kata competitions as well) would have a fun time using these clowns as punching bag.

So much control but with the blade not heavy it changes how it's handled bravo tho

ROAR BLUE DRAGON!!
I‘m pretty sure that Guan Yu would never used such a wobbling blade 🤦♀️
if he uses the real Guandao…this will look so amazing…
Great performance tin foil blade
Guan yu Guan yu Guan yu!
Very nice
The performance of Mr. Hongshen is great! But…
Where's the graceful beard of General Guan?
Bro did some cosplay for his performance. Respect.
I watch this performance many times. It is incredible!

Epic skills!… The Nickelodeon flappy sound is kinda harshing the vibe tho….
who came first?
ancient weapons and hoakey religions are no match for a good blaster.

With some long mustache and beard, this will look more amazing!
"I claim another victory in the name of my brother"
Watching this is unbearable having to listen to that aluminum paper blade. Despicable.
.Eu amo wushu, mas esse negócio de ficar fazendo formas com armas de "PAPEL ALUMÍNIO" me deixa com tédio? Onde estão as armas tradicionais?
