Surely Jurgen's announcement half way through the season had an effect on the contract considerations of the three big players. Whatever loyalty any of them might have had for the club – committing to a long stay on poor pay for an unknowable future was a big ask for three guys who could easily get bigger bucks in clubs sure to win trophies. With hindsight we see Liverpool has flourished under Slot. But back then the spectre of a future like Man U under Moyes and the rest was a real prospect for future Liverpool.
Alphonso Davies is the perfect replacement.. oh wait. And heās available on a free. Would be silly not to sign him up

I'm not bothered if we don't sign Zubimendi. We were after Andre for a while. He stayed at his club and now looks average at Wolves. We were in for Nunes from Wolves and ended he up at city doing ok. We were also in for Lavia and Caicedo for stupendous amounts of money and both ended up at Chelsea again doing ok…
Since then we've got the best midfield in world football Szobo, Macca, Curtis and Grav…
