      The western politicians are always saying that the politics shouldn't be involved in sports as they're always blaming iran for not playing against Israel but they showed that they're the first persons that are involving politics into sports😏

      It's not only Canada's fault this happened, a lot of artists, journalists, and politicians from Iran also objected to prevent this match from happening. I also was passionate about this match but the argument behind that is not only the Ukrainian flight, right now people in Iran are getting killed (Abadan) that's why even some Iranian activists tried to push and cancel this match to show the world you shouldn't corporate with terrorists!

      Although I don't really understand the relationship between football and these events!

      I feel for you guys, that is a really shitty move by your FA. I watch the Welsh national team and we almost got screwed over like that when playing away to Slovakia in a qualifier. Our 2000 away tickets were all sold, the fans had booked flights and accomodation and then a week before the game UEFA decided to punish the Slovakian FA for fan behaviour for a match 6 months earlier by trying force them to play the Wales game behind closed doors. Thankfully the Welsh and Slovakian FA's had enough sway to make them change their mind and we were allowed to go. It seems that the fans are the last consideration for any decisions made.

      yeah Really disappointing to say the least.

      once all the negative narrative gets out about this match, I think Canada soccer had no choice but to cancel.

      I do think that USA and England will actually benefit from these back to back friendly cancellations for Iran friendlies as it makes Iran a weaker side with less preparation opportunities.

      On the plus side I think Canada and Iran will manage to set up a friendly in place of the cancelled games.

      Iran is having talks with Uruguay and looking to finalize a friendly for June 11/12 and canada has a few talks going (according to the Ukrainian ambassador in canada: there are talks about getting visas to Ukrainian players for a friendly )

      The cancelation of this match was really disappointing for me as well as I am Iranian-Canadian and really wanted to support both of my countries in a match. However on the positive side, Greg won’t get the notes and tactics he wanted and Iran may play Uruguay in a friendly on June 11th or 12th!

      I’m disappointed Canada soccer canceled game against Iran this was great opportunity for Canada against national offside CONCACAF but now Canada have to find the new opponent for Friendly game and think Colombia will great opponent for Canada and Colombia just have one friendly game in June.

      Leave politics out of Football and sports period. No excuses. The sport is to bring people from all background and cultures and religions together. It's in Fifa's charter go read it. Countries play Football even at times of war this was pure hating political decision forced on Canadian Mens Soccer. This really showed that Canada is a very incompetent divided nation politically of hosting the next World Cup in 2026. This was a HUGE red flag and Fifa will be involved in this case. Iran wants 10M for wasting their time have fun paying that too. 

      If Football is all about politics and human rights issues. Then Canada needs to cancel attending Qatar 2022 World Cup. Qatar is corrupt country that has been abusing and killing migrant workers for over decade building all those stadiums. Double standards happening here. Unfortunately I don't believe it was only Trudeau and the victims families but the racist far right Conservative leaders in Canada. Every country should cancel their friendly games against Canada because of the crimes against humanity with the indigenous children. Canada is not perfect country either don't forget. Absolutely pissed off 50+ thousand fans in a sold out game.. What a shame Iran was a great opponent for Canada to prepare…

      I'm so tired about what happened between politics this, politics that! Seriously, they need to stop this and play soccer games! So, I don't know who is replacing this game and play this friendly game or Nation League.

      They need to don't worry about that politics and play soccer games and think about atmosphere in stadium.

      Their decision honestly makes no sense. They cancelled it due to political reasons, but isn’t the fact that they have to pay our government millions in fines worse than playing us. Its also highly detrimental to Canada’s WC chances as now they only have 1 friendly against a below average team. Why invite us to a friendly in the first place?

      yeah i hate when politics cancels sports 🙁 Also the Russian team has been disqualified from the qualifiers, the Champions League final was supposed to be in Russia but ended up in Stade de France, which was a disaster, Mbappe changed his mind about signing for Madrid because of politics too, french politicians were pushing to stay in Paris… What happened with the Pierre de Coubertin spirit, "Sport as a Human Right"…. this is so wrong…

      I think Iran will end up with 1 point at the bottom again because there is no friendlies matches announced , i am afraid if they do match with Iraq , Syria , Bosnia , Uzbekistan and Venezuela again like two past World cups ! they always announced will play with this and that but we know ……

      This game wouldn't have benefited Iran at all,first of all Iran would have been travelling thousands of miles to play in Canadian climate! Secondly Canada is not a footballing nation ,iran wouldn't have benefited from this game at all,probably iran would benefit more by playing a European team than Canada, even San Marino and Luxembourg are better than Canada!
