  1. "I don't want the guy to be hung drawn and quartered"

"It could also argued that its lucky he didn't get a heftier ban"

Which is it Jim? Because I've not seen a single person mention a heftier ban until you brought it up.

The fact Ben Thatcher got 8 games for nearly killing a player on the football pitch and you've tried to claim its lucky a player who made some ignorant racist statement could have got a ban on par or more severe is absurd.

  2. A player can break a fellow pros leg on the pitch, deprive him from making a living as a consequence, and get a 3 to 5 ban. Dumb, ignorant but seemingly harmless joke, 7 game ban. Mad world.

  3. There is no ambiguity in the implication of what he said. He would have known the slander is aimed at an ethnicity. To normalise this is to normalise racism and bigotry at large. Six games is peanuts. He should lose his job.

  4. While it doesn’t seem that harmful, South American culture is way behind on their racism. The penalty is another wake up call for the culture. The EPL generates $$$ into those countries. They all need to move along with the times and progress the rest of the world is making addressing racism.

  5. Football positions itself as a moral authority, claiming to make a difference, yet racism toward minority players persists in the shadows. I have no facts just feel it’s there.
Meanwhile, why not allow gay players to openly express themselves? The football establishment appears weak in its efforts to appear strong. To me, it's just a hollow gesture.
