  1. Too bad the country protection is no longer in place from R16 itself from now on. Which means that at a very early stage we could see good teams from the same country knocking each other out. Hence, the times of "total PL dominance or total La Liga dominance" in the UCL might become a very rare occasion

  2. Looks like its better to finish 8th place than 1st, they're getting further behind finishing opponents (23rd or 24th) rather than table toppers who will get 17th/18th place finishers

  3. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for this format, but while the league phase was going on, I found it quite interesting. All the teams are playing something until the last day. In the group stage format, many teams arrived with first place assured and had nothing at stake.

  4. ALREADY! These competitons were boring, except for some matches, well, we need more competiton like 5 matchdays and it's already fucking december, isn't that too late

  5. Before it started I heard a rumour that the UCL Semis and Final would be played in a centralized location in a Final Four format… I got so hyped for that

  6. Hmmm i hope Red Star Belgrade get that 24th place. We need another legendary 90s club like Aston Villa. But they had really hard first part, we will see. There is always next years though.

  7. I love the new league phase. But 8 matchdays is too much. The conference league is only 6 matchdays. Hopefully UCL and UEL later will also 6 matchdays too. The new knockout stage is fair, although no country protection anymore.
