Tottenham are expected to appeal against Rodrigo Bentancur’s seven-match suspension for a racist remark made about team-mate Heung-Min Son in a TV interview.
Spurs are understood to be appealing the length of the Football Association ban rather than the verdict. The 27-year-old was also fined £100,000.
Bentancur has been sanctioned over comments he made in an interview aired on Uruguayan TV in June.

I’m Korean. We all make mistakes and learn to better ourselves. Rodrigo’s penalty is too harsh. There was no malice. One or two game suspension should be sufficient as precedent.

I think this was way too strong. I support Arsenal, but I have to admit that he didn't think he was being racist. It was a stupid joke about Asians looking the same. He probably joked with Son to his face about this in the past.

I think this is stupid. Son said himself that Rodrigo apologized to him for what he said, and he forgave him. Son says that Rodrigo is not a racist, that should be the end of it.
There is hypocrisy around the world on this matter. I’m an African man living in us . All my white or Caucasian brothers have confessed to me that we black peoples looked like the same. They were having hard times especially with height and size.
