A first-half own goal from visiting goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk was enough to give us a narrow 1-0 home win, and maintain our unbeaten start to the league phase in the Champions League.

Martinelli created the only goal, it was his low shot that cannoned back off the post and in off the goalkeeper.

Riznyk was involved again in the second-half, saving a penalty from Leandro Trossard and we needed a full-stretch, flying save from David Raya in injury-time to secure the win.

  1. Love how Calafiori has that deep run in to box just before Martinellis shot to Goal. That run from Calafiori confused the Defender in front of Martinelli for that split second, which resulted in that shot to be a goal. Maybe it would still have been a goal, but I think that run was so ace!

  2. That wasn’t an important win; it was one of Arsenal’s worst performances so far. I can't understand Arteta’s thinking behind this lineup against a well-prepared Shakhtar Donetsk. It's clear that Shakhtar did their homework and outplayed us. I’m genuinely concerned about Arteta’s management—it feels like he’s losing control.Did you see how Manchester City dominated in their Champions League match win? Not to mention Aston Villa securing a good result and Barcelona demolishing Bayern. These are the kinds of results we want to see Arsenal achieving, not scrambling for goals every game. Where is the style of play we saw over the last two seasons? This new approach isn’t working. Partey showed some commitment, but where’s our £100 million signing? Who’s been underwhelming? And what’s going on with players like an ineffective Sterling, a lazy Havertz, an aimless Merino, and a disappointing penalty taker like Trossard? Their performances have been poor. Arteta needs to wake up and revert to what worked before. Is missing Saka and Ødegaard really impacting the team this much? If so, that’s concerning. I have zero confidence going into the Liverpool match; we’ll likely be outclassed. Why spend so much on players if the results don’t show? I wouldn’t hold my breath for the next game; it’s bound to be disappointing.

  3. You’re missing the point and kidding yourselves. Ask yourself why we constantly need to rely on two players to perform well and achieve better results. I admire Saka and Ødegaard; they’re world-class talents, but we should have a team strong enough to perform well without depending solely on them. If Arsenal can’t deliver without these two, then we’re following the wrong team and setting ourselves up for regular disappointment. Look at Manchester City. Despite having a few key players injured, their team plays cohesively enough that you barely notice anyone is missing. So, stop kidding yourselves if we believe that relying on just two players is a sustainable strategy for success. Arteta has a lot of work to do. And once again, brace yourself for a disappointing result against Liverpool.
