I disagree yes it's fifa wanting more money but it's a good way of getting other clubs that are rarely watched more recognition and a chance to discover more talent. This is a great idea . just to be clear to people who are new to mls. inter miami won the supporter's shield which translates to winning the prem league or laliga. in order to win the "MLS cup" it has nothing to do with being the best team in the league it has alot of luck involved with winning and it is sort of a mini tournament at the end of the season. i think its smart to announce them awarding of the supporters shield rather than mls cup. i personally dislike the and always disliked the playoff system in the mls.

The issue here is that miami has not won the MLS cup (they only have the most points). In the MLS system, that does not qualify a team as champion of the league because not every team has the opportunity to play each other. Example Miami did not play Los Angeles FC this year. That doesn't take away anything from miami's achievements but that's just an example of how unorganized the regular season is in the mls. Miami also failed to win their continental cup last year (which is more important than the leagues cup), and they obviously have yet to obtain the actual MLS cup. Seeing as miami is currently the best they do have the best chance of winning the cup so maybe they should've waited until they actually won it but maybe they didn't want to chance an underdog story idk. But I think that'll clarify the controversy from those who don't understand why the hate.
