  1. In regards to English managers.. I personally think clubs don't give managers time.. and if yous a big named ex-player the media and sentimental value from fans put them on a pedestal too only fail..

On the continent you'll see the majority of managers start in the 2nd – 3rd division with team's.. or going through a top team starting at the bottom (under 16/18 etc.. and working up).

I again think Graham Potter if given time (and still at Chelsea) would of been in the same place as the current manager is in the league..!

There young, inexperienced team with bags of potential just needed time.. again, my prediction is they just need a goal scorer and they won't be far away.. 🤐

As for the England manager.. too be honest I'm not bothered who it is as long as we win something.. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Brilliant to hear we have a full strength team.. 💪🏽

I would like to see Nedeljkovic and Maatsen starting in the fullback positions.. UTV 🍀

  2. I read in an article that some coaches are going to Spain to get their licences

I took my pre-lim at Lille shall back in the early 1970’s with such names as Alan Wade and sir Charles as coaches and some of the guys taking the prelim was players from manure West Brom Newcastle and Charlton to name drop a few lol great experience

Good luck as you start your coaching journey

  3. Spain has a lot of independent providers teaching the B, A and pro mate… A load of Madrid and Barca coaches getting fast tracked through the Spanish FA as the licenses they got weren't approved by UEFA. So much so that they are threatening to withhold champions league money. Our licenses are harder to get, but at least you know you are getting it officially. That's the context anyway.

  4. Deano won the play-off final, there was a trophy so technically it was our man 😀 Spot on about the cost of coaching badges, literally only ex-pro's can afford that, needs to be more accessible

  5. I'm not that bothered about national team football; I'm a Villan and that's that. Club before country every time; and I would happily swap an England World Cup win for three points to Villa on the weekend. However, it just strikes me that if you're going to have a national team, then surely everyone associated should be from that nation? Whatever. I don't suppose it really matters.

  6. I think ideally any country wants one of their own to manage the team. If thats not an option the next best fit can only be a foreign manager.

The bigger question for the FA is why is there a lack of quality english coaches I think we should challenge ourselves to look at other set ups such as the Spanish set up as they are now churning out really great managers.

Also British coaches don't seem to travel to other countries much for experience.

  7. Setting your sights high, Luke?
To be fair to Wazza he has admitted that he might not be good enough and then said that he will drop down as far as necessary in order to find his level and then build up from there.

  8. As someone who has been coaching for 12 years, the issue is without doubt the cost of the badges. I've been preaching this for a long time. We don't have a big enough talent pool because of this, other European clubs give coaches a chance but we don't have enough to pick from.
It's something I'm passionate about, don't get me wrong though if you spend enough time watching and learning while you coach the badges become just paperwork, you have to have them.for certain roles though

  9. I reckon you'd make a decent coach/manager etc, based on the way you communicate during the post match breakdown/tactical analysis and your energy!

I think the negativity towards Tuchel will quieten down if he's successful, just as it did when Sven lead us to the 5-1 win vs Germany.

    UTMV!!

  10. Massive news, can't wait to see mings back in a proper game, that injury was a nasty one n I remember the rumours going round at the time of it being career ending so to have him and kamara back will feel like new signings, kamara and onana will be interesting to see how they team up on the field, our midfield is looking stacked going forward with some interesting combinations…. UTV 💜 💙

  11. I was nervous of this game but the sultan of Unai will find a way! And i cant believe we got no injuries! Our kid said earlier oir injuries wont help against Fulham and i thought true that .. but we both be glad to be wrong UTV

  12. I am going to be 100% honest and my opinion my be quite controversial. English managers have a stereotype of playing 4-4-2 and playing long ball football, and it's kind of true with most English managers. I think it's a football culture in England that's been around for decades, and unless the next generation of all English managers want to quit and erase that style of football, it's going to be around forever! In France it's counter-attacking football, in Spain it's possesion football, in Portugal it's possesion and counter-attack, in Italy it's playing a back 5 or a back 3, with the 3 centre backs, and being defensively minded and defensively strong, and being mentality monsters to win games, and lastly in Germany it's high pressing football. All of those countries have won silverware in the last 20 years, and England haven't.

    Italy 2006, 2020
    Spain 2008, 2010, 2012, 2024
    Germany 2014
    Portugal 2016
    France 2018

I don't think there's a single English manager who has found a very successful style of play, to create a winning football culture in England. Let's call a spade a spade, an English manager has never won the English Premier League, and the Premier League has been around since the summer of 1992! All the nations that I mentioned earlier, have managers from those nations that have won the Premier League. Arsene Wenger French, Jose Mourinho Portuguese, Pep Guardiola Spanish, Conte/Ancelotti Italian, and Jurgen Klopp German. Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but I think it's important to talk about why English managers are where they are. Great video Luke UTV 💜💙

  13. How do we integrate players back in? Glad I’m not Emrey having to make the decisions. Maybe a few minutes back end of the game or start a cup game? I feel we need a fully sharp Mings , Buendia and Kamara to be in contention for champions league games. Can’t wait to see them tearing it up in that competition.
