  1. Trent Alexander Arnold is a sublime footballer and just from watching him, from a talent perspective he’s the best right back in the world not just the premier league and he has revolutionized the role of a modern day fullback. With all due respect to Kyle Walker, he’s a very good right back and has been for many years, but at this stage of his career, they’re not on the same level, even Reece James, yes he’s very talented which has never been a question mark, again they’re not even close to being on the same level and it also doesn’t help that he’s barely kicked a ball in the last 18 months and is never healthy and he can’t be in the same bracket as a player who doesn’t even play.

Trent is on another level as despite being a right back, he has the footballing ability and IQ that an attacking midfielder/central midfielder has. He creates so many chances at an elite level from anywhere on the pitch, his range of passing (long or short) is exceptional, he’s great at taking set pieces and produces so many crosses into the box as he’s someone who is capable of switching the play and starting attacks. He’s still playing as a right back, in recent seasons on the ball, he has been drifting into midfield as an inverted fullback. He’s not a bad defender, there are times where he’s easily beaten by an elite winger 1v1 and at times he can be a defensive liability, it’s not like he can’t defend, he’s not the best at doing it. People spend too much time talking about his weaknesses rather than what he brings to a team, you’re not an average player when you have the most assists out of any defender in the history of the premier league and keep in mind that he’s still only 25 years old as it’s easy to forget that since he has been around for a while. Some of his numbers as a fullback is excellent. He has been a key component for Liverpool’s success in recent years and he’s already in the conversation for being the greatest fullback we’ve seen in the Premier League at such a young age and it’s a testament to how good he is. His attacking ability makes up for his shortcomings defensively. From watching him, I don’t blame people including Liverpool fans who think that Gareth Southgate is a fraud especially with how a player of his caliber has been lacking minutes for England in major tournaments and as good as he is, I don’t think he gets enough appreciation from the English media and can you imagine if he was at a club like Real Madrid for example which is a legacy booster for a lot of players, the guy needs Madrid PR as if he had that, the way he’s viewed would be different since he’s an exceptional player. It’s time for people to start appreciating this guy a little more as he’s a genuine baller.
