I can’t believe we should’ve won against both City and Chelsea, but somehow we still ended up here

  2. I’m jonas out all the way, but can’t blame him for a loss when no one knows how to score! The chances were there

  3. Dang can you imagine if we had a player like Miedema to bully their defense? We’d be unstoppable!

  4. no chance Jonas can survive this, but the season is probably lost already.

we could have get four points against City and Chelsea, but in fairness we could have dropped points vs Leicester too and the 0:0 against Everton was fair too.

So it’s just a very poor start into this season.

  5. Players need some of the blame with their finishing and decision-making, but we have scored less than our opponents for ages. Honestly, it is painful to watch creative players look so stilted.

    Something needs to change.

  6. A competent club sacks him. Let see if the women’s side of the club is as well run as they want us to believe

  7. Yeah so it’s all over but the crying now I suspect. Not a credible performance and the right people were in the stands to see it.

There’s a business aspect to all this that I am sure is top of mind for Edu and co. You won’t have people packing the Emirates to watch frustrating, inept football. Keeping the momentum going for the larger project demands a change in manager, sooner rather than later. Such an obvious disparity in paid vs actual attendance is a big red flag.

  8. i dont understand how we were such a trailblazing setup for womens football, but things do not seem to be well in denmark. we had the nobbs treatment, viv being shipped out, still no audio commentary for womens games (despite them playing at the emirates now!), there’s no single mention of arsenal women in the history section on the website (instead being relegated to the about and then arsenal women subsection [108 games unbeaten but nah lets not talk about that history]). i dont know whats gotten into the team since genuinely the last cunti cup final, but somethings gotta change

  9. We are shit from a butt. Jonas out. Established players need to feel their minutes are threatened, passenger performances from veterans when we have talented options waiting in the wings.

  10. That first half performance contributed heavily to the loss that and the fact that some players just can’t score. They bounced back in the second half but it just wasn’t enough I don’t know what to say or how this season is going to go they have goal drought again. It just feels like one step forwards and five steps back with arsenal they struggle to just do the basics at times I can’t even tell if that’s all on Jonas or the players psyche.

  11. Jonas still has to go. I’m sorry, it’s not good enough with the team we have to be struggling to compete for the title once again.

If you want to win, you have to have a winners mentality instilled. These results do not cut it.

Fix the problem now whilst there’s still a chance. The longer you leave it, the less likely it’ll be fixable this season.

45,000 in attendance for this game — this exact same fixture last year had a then record attendance of 59,000ish. Is there something to be said that our dire form is having a direct impact on ticket sales, or am I reading too much into it? That alone could be enough to warrant canning Jonas.

  13. I feel sick and I didn’t even watch the game. My condolences to everyone that did. Everything about Arsenal feels so heavy right now.

  14. Aside from Jonas, there’s another big problem in the staff: a set piece coach. I don’t know if we have one, if we do they need to go as well if we don’t we need one desperately. The set pieces are SO bad I don’t even get excited to get a corner or ‘dangerous’ free kick. Sure we had one big chance today but that was a bit of a crazy chance in the first place. We won NINE corners (according to LiveScore) and didn’t threaten off any!! Seriously???

  15. We have a squad of players that thrive on fast flowing football but Jonas wants to play in channels, safety first which stifles most of their natural ability.

His obsession with building around Alessia just isn’t working, the service isn’t there and she is marked way too closely to play without a partner to one-two off. Starting with Stina to stretch the opposition and wear them out makes more sense to me

With Viktoria injured Kim is being flogged for too many minutes yet Katerina who stepped up during the injury crisis is completely sidelined. Also what scenario did we buy Kafaji for? I haven’t seen Jonas utilise her ability to come in from the edge of the box while the opposition are being stretched by wide players with pace, he has just chucked her in without a complimentary set up.

  16. I’m not even angry , just sad. Not angry at eidevall not at the players. Just sad that the club that I love with all my heart has come to this. Sad that the women I’ve grown to admire for so long to be seen on this state. Just sad that Arsenal doesn’t feel like Arsenal anymore. It doesn’t feel like home to me anymore. Just a misery that I’m addicted to.

  17. That overall level of effort and pace of play was much improved over any other game this season. Not sure why it takes emergency times to bring that out of this team, but here we are.

As for players, Kim needs a rest. She’s a warrior, but time has finally caught up to her. Play KCC. And I feel like Mead is perhaps subconsciously or consciously impacted by Viv’s absence. Her head does not seem fully tuned into Arsenal right now. She and Foxy were good last season and struggling together now.

I don’t know if Jonas stays or goes, but I hope the squad does not give up. That would be disappointing because there is plenty to fight for. Think of all the lower table teams who have to fight to keep their heads for an entire season. This rough patch is horrible — HORRIBLE!! — but it won’t last forever. Team leadership needs to set the tone and keep everyone together.

  18. 7 points and 9 goals down from the corresponding fixtures last season. I don’t even know where to start.

This is a team devoid of confidence and it shows. First half especially they were scared to shoot, couldn’t keep hold of the ball, and had no situational awareness. They lost the ball to Chelsea so many times it’s unreal.

I think Beth Mead might have put in one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen in person.

Thank god for Caitlin Foord for breathing some life into the game, but even after that we struggled to get a grip on the game. Too many loose passes and nowhere near incisive enough.

This team is definitely capable of so much more.

The officiating was harsh Caitlin shouldn’t have gotten a card because she did the same LJ did also Jonas is an idiot for waiting to bring stina on

  21. As much as I’ve lost confidence in Jonas, the players themselves have been putting in inconsistent performances as he rightly noted at the end of last season. I have no doubt that players are putting in as much effort as they can muster, but there are certain things they’re doing on the pitch that even Jonas’ shitty game management can’t make a difference to.

The absence of leadership on the pitch is apparent, because whatever they feel about Jonas, leadership among the players should plug sone of the gap. As some of you have noted, the USWNT won twice despite having a manager they had lost confidence in.

The fact that service for attackers isn’t there and the combination play/chemistry isn’t there, their positioning isn’t there etc. That’s not solely on Jonas. The whole team looks shit (some consistently, others depends on the day!) even though we know they’re capable of better. The good players who seem to offer that difference – the verve, that hunger, that effort – aren’t being played.

Some of the starters need to be benched. There needs to be more competition to start, because frankly some of our starters are and have been lacklustre for a good half season now. That shouldn’t be rewarded with starting; they should have to compete and prove themselves. Arteta does this, but Jonas does not and he needs to – he needs to start new signings. I also don’t know how we can recruit new talent if it takes 3 seasons just for them to get played.

Leah Williamson has got to stop throwing her hands up for offsides when the play is still going on. She slows down when she does it and her focus should be on stopping the play and/or preventing a goal. Drives me bonkers when players do that.

Funny how nobody’s questioning the title of this post. Our first Emirates loss since – I think – Liverpool on the opening weekend last year?

Shows how bad things are that it feels like it’s just one more in a long line
