I know a lot of comments I make look "optimist", but I'm a positive realist, which is different. Martinez is just out of form, and that is what I say about a lot of these players. They're not bad players; they're out of form, and they're all out of form at the same time.
I wonder what would happen if all of us fans actually got behind the team positively instead of nitpicking and criticising every time they put a foot wrong, manager included.
Ste I'm surprised you didn't mention that he nearly lost a whole season last year.. every player that does that, comes back, plays well for a few games then has a drop off for a few weeks… he's no different.. he'll come good again..his game time just needs to be managed
lets wait till season will finish still plenty to play but i reckon its gotta be something with him not fully fit thats why he is not performing to his standards

Martinez as a CDM? In front of De Ligt and Yoro
The partnership of Martinez & De Ligt doesn't really work. As much we'd hoped it would it doesn't.
Naturally in a center back pairing you need an aggressor who physically dominates forwards & a sweeper who's quick, stands off till he has to make the challenge e.g Gabriel & Saliba or Martinez & Varane . Both Lisandro & De Ligt are aggressors & they not quick enough to be sweepers. Pairing Yoro with either of them could be a perfectly balanced partnership. Godspeed he recovers soon.

Licha needs a break now, use one of the international breaks to just stay rested and fix the fitness concerns.
It is incredibly telling when you look at our best performers in the first season where we did well.
Rashford – Completely lost all form and doesn't even look close to himself.
Casemiro – Seemingly went from World Class DM to having "no legs" according to most and being a liability.
Martinez – Went from an incredible first season to a season full of injuries and now looks mediocre as fuck.
Bruno – Has been good every single season since he joined and even he is seeming to struggle now.
Eriksen – Gone from being half of the midfield partnership that dominated to a bit part player.
De Gea – Unceremoniously booted from the club despite winning the golden glove.
Wan Bissaka – Booted from the club for not being the "right" player.
Varane – Let go on a free because of his age and wage.
Ten Hag has either gotten rid of, stopped playing or completely ruined the form of every single player that was carrying us in that first season. They weren't doing it with his tactics, either. They were doing it through individual talent.
In the first season, the players were dragging Ten Hag along while he desperately clung onto their coattails. In the second and current season he has firmly taken root as an anchor and is actively holding the team back instead.
We need a new manager.

To honest, Dalot and De Ligt needed to be dropped more rather then Martinez. Take a look at every single goal we conceded and you ll have your usual suspects who re at fault, those two.

Stephen you're the tactical talker surely you understand that Watkins turned upemecano 3 or 4 time on the half way line even getting him carded could have even seen red, surely you can see it's not a defender problem against the players not picked it's a simple case of playing 2 defenders who defend the edge of the box well instead of defending the half way line and getting ran ragged by Watkins
Players that we deemed reliable when fit last season, Martinez, Mainoo and Fernandes, their form has plummeted so far this season. I don’t think they’ve returned from their summer break. That’s not meant as a criticism, they’ve likely been overworked and haven’t gotten their fitness back yet. We need them all to get back on it, because we’re a shadow of the side we could be with them out of form.

Howson is deluded, those players he mentioned that trod the fine line regarding getting sent off all had the Ferguson effect regarding referee sympathy, especially at OT.
Any player that is constantly getting cards is unprofessional and a liability and the underlying reason is usually because they have shortcomings in their game. Martinez is massively overrated, too small, slow and one-dimensional.
It will be interesting to see how many minutes Leny Yoro gets when he returns. Yoro and De Ligt could be a solid partnership as De Ligt played on the left as the step defender at Ajax. Yoro can sweep and cover the channel down the right with his pace.

Keep the staff, keep adding/ upgrading the players. Keep the training methods/ playing styles, get more players who can deliver the effort and the plan. that is in my opinion how things can get better IN TIME.

All our players aren’t just suddenly terrible. The manager exposes the weaknesses in our players with his system and the shape he has us playing, when he should be finding a system that highlights their strengths.

If him and his missus were trying to get pregnant that can take so much of your mental energy and wreak havoc on your daily routines. If this is true most of his work is done for next 9mo and he can focus on football.
The next manager is going to replace him, in the PL physicaly disadvantaged CB's dont work in the elite teams, its not just his height, its pace and power as well.
