Ugarte is a transfer that helps United undoubtedly but what fans shouldn’t be doing is believing he’s going to be the answer to all of our problems, a player with attributes to improve us but he most definitely isn’t without his faults.

Who can be the defensive midfielder that creates the dynamic that fits best with Mainoo and Bruno?

to augment your argument Ste, Carrick worked – but yes, similar to city, we were great when when we had Carrick.
Xavi/Carrick/Busquets were very similar in my opinion in their generation – in terms of the type of cdm role they filled.
Rodri has a bit of their quality and then adds a bit of Mekelelle with the size of a center half.
Rodri is a specimen that comes around in a… well, a long time. and not often. I agree ste, we have to pick and choose what is gonna help us the most and similar to what a lot of us had hopped for Pogba, it is/was get someone who can be the work horse to complement and allow Mainoo to be the best he can possibly be.
We do that, and we stand a chance of bringing about the next Scholes and returning to glory

Ugarte was signed from Portugal, Sporting Lisbon to play for P.S.G. He wasn't in South America. He had an elite season in Portugal the year before he signed in Paris as the Paulinha replacement.
Casemiro cannot play twice a week. Ugarte will do a great job. Particularly at the end of games. We shipped late goals last season. That’s primarily why we didn’t get top 4. It was because of the injuries however we need to shut up shop in the last 10 (+5-8 mins of overtime).
Who would you say would be the PERFECT DM for Manchester United? Personally, I'd say Rodri after City get relegated. 😛🤯

I think he would be great for us. He doesn't have to play every game but his off the ball work would be so valuable in games like Anfield away
If Mainoo or Casemiro gets injured we're screwed. I’d ditch Erikson, legs are gone. Must sign Ugarte and Rabiot or Berge as squad depth. Against Fulham, After 60’ Mainoo and Casemiro were tired and the game started opening up but no good options on the bench. if United plays against teams with high energy in the midfield we will get beat without strength in depth. United needs at least 2 quality midfielders
My choice would’ve been Joao Neves but because of his price plan B would’ve been Manu Kone
Ugarte is WAY more of a 6 than Casemiro is.. Casemiro while
He played amazing was wayyyyy up the pitch most of the game leaving a giant hole if we got countered.. Ugarte is more disciplined to sit in there.. I think he could with kobbie or Casemiro as a partner and it would be great.
I don’t watch a ton of other prem teams games.. who are the top no6 players in the league that sit? I always hear Rodri is special.. who else is there?
We need him, keep Casemiro and play him less, give ugarte the match minutes coz he's young and hungry.

Ugarte is all legs. One of my worries is that he doesn't have the positional awareness needed to play in the prem, where as he'd make up for it in league 1 and in portugal with running and tackling.
I’d go for Kante for a season fuck it
Amadou Onana would fit better than Ugarte. He comes with all Mainoo's weaknesses: speed and height. He's also more press resistant, skilled, and good on the ball than Ugarte and Amrabat. He would have complemented Mainoo's game.

I watched all Uruguay games in Copa America and I think Nicky Butt is the perfect comparison to Ugarte. On paper, he might be the yin to Mainoo's yang but sure there has to be a genuine connection between them, which takes time to flourish. A loan deal with option to buy would be perfect.
I think letting go of Eriksen Mctominay Merjbi, and bring in Ugarte and Rabiot would be pretty perfect midfield boost, having the options of Bruno and Mount in the 10 having Mainoo and Rabiot in the number 8/6 and Ugarte and Casemiro in the 6/8 is just a great stack of options with the likes of Collyer and Oydele there ready to go when some of those need a night off in starting FA/Carabao/Europa League table games
Get Sander Berge with Ugarte, he solves the balance issues. Ugarte, Berge, Mainoo is the perfect midfield combo
If we are weak in opponent transitions. The attack has to deliver then and not miss big chances like we do due to poor finishing. The onus is on the attack

Ugarte is absolutely a makelele like, positionally sound #6. What have you been reading to suggest otherwise??
He positions as a 6, drops back between the cbs, has high tackle rates and success, high block and interception rates, and his passing, while unspectactular with regards to range, is still exceptional in terms of his pass completion rate at what he tries.
He is a proper #6, if you dont see that, you cannot have watched much of him at all.

We need grit and teeth in that midfield! Ugarte has both, plus four lungs! Him and Mainoo would definitely tessellate and work well together! In fact depending on the opposition, he'd complement Casemiro, Eriksen, whoever. Just give him options and channels to pass to if he's pressed. Once he settles into the system he'll be great! We haven't had a player like him for years!
id take him as a loan, and see if a partnership between mainoo and collyer can blossom in the next 12 months

Owen Hargreaves 0.2, which is a very good thing. Mainoo, like most of the U21 graduates can't be bothered running anymore now he's 'established'. United to go for a 4-2-2-2; Thev2's being, Bruno & Ugarte, Rashford & Diallo/Antony, ZZ & Hojlund. Players that fight for the ball ( not so much Rashy, but he is good on his day).
It’s always funny watching an Englishman try and analyze a South American player because 90% of the analysis is based on what they read on social media rather than watching them actually play. Literally has 0 clue the profile of player Ugarte is. The guy is solid in possession, a ruthless tackler, and seems like a perfect complement to Mainoo.
