      I’m done supporting my beloved Man Utd if and I stress if, Management opt to go with Gareth Southgate. I will reassess my decision after and if he is gone. I pray a lot of fans vote with their feet. Hit Management where it hurts in the pocket. This is the only language they will understand.

      And so you bring on a football journalist. His first comment includes: "…performances have been pretty dire." No, no, no. Nope, nope, nope. The evidence does not support such a judgement.
      This is going to be a tough listen (I listen to SP while dicking around w/ historical football research).

      I'm looking/listening for this guy justifying this comment and others similar….

      Here we go….

      1. "No players are getting better". Rashford is palpably better this season; Onana is palpably better this season; Eriksen is palpably better this season; Evans is even better than he was last season.

      2. "We're not seeing enough improvement in any areas of the pitch…" Defensively, the team is demonstrably better than last season: In terms of goals conceded, MU is 6th lowest in the league on 8, same as MCity. Possession stats: MUFC 7th best in League (52.7%), was 10th in 2023-24.

      This not enough?

      3. "Tuchel has the pedigree." He is the first manager of Bayern Munchen not to win the Bundesliga since 2012. They subsequently sacked him. Has only won a League title at PSG & had repeated cup failures. Won CL at Chelsea but lost a Cup Final to Leicester.

      4. "It's been as bad if not worse than last season." Nope. See above.

      5. "Show us something tactically." 1. Beat the best team in Britain in the Cup Final. 2 2-0 up at Porto; equalised 3-3 w/ 10 men at Porto, after dominating the game v. Porto after Porto scored on 50 mins. 3. Dominated first halves v. Palace & Brighton. 4. Only the 2nd team this season to stop Villa scoring; the other was Arsenal.

      6. "I can't remember the last time he made a substitution that made any difference." Maguire, sub, 78th minute v. Porto, scoring equaliser in added time. (I'm trying very hard to make this completely emotionless, but Jesus wept, man!

      Tough going indeed.

      I have a simple question to ask the executive powers at the excellent Stretford Paddock: why did you ask Mr. Hall on? (Note. I have no axe to grind with Mr. Hall. I don't read his paper. I don't know his work).

      And one concern: on the evidence of this podcast it seems to me that SP folk give too much weight to the opinion of football journalists.

      Apart from media hype, what exactly were the "indications" in the summer that Ten Hag was going to be sacked?

      I am disappointed with where things are at and don't see Ten Hag as part of the solution.

      But, I hate these manufactured "facts" and "indications" being mentioned as factual rather than simply opinions.

      These 'journalists' are PISS POOR….its all speculation & regurgitation of other ppls speculation…
      All of this is KNOWN & KNOWN for months… we know Ineos 'like' southgate…ashworth was at the FA, 'like' is such a waffly term….Tuchel we know was spoken to by Ineos in the summer & RVN is our assistant.
      What part of any of his words is useful…much like the general legacy media.
      And NO ONE knows what was said in the meetings over the last couple of days….so trying to indicate what was said in those meetings is nonsense.
      Ineos right or wrong don't need to do anything in terms of statements… We just have to wait & see just like everything else that has happened the last 9 months.
      I swear i have no idea how these 'journalists' get paid…they make up an opinion hardly any different than what we do…
      Ineos have shutdown the leak culture so much these ppl are making stuff up now & passing it off as an 'update'…
