  1. I'd have silva, but I haven't seen carvalho and desailly play. Haven't watched a match for 7 years, I've recently been looking at highlights though. However, I couldn't give a fair answer because I didn't watch desailly and carvalho, who according to Google are 2 of Chelsea's greatest.

  2. Carvalho was excellent but he was in a very organised Jose side which you have to consider. Silva was bossing the defence on the pitch through the most aggressive transition strategy any top flight club has ever undertaken. Its been most turbulent time since just before Bates bought the club for £1 all those decades ago. We would have been relegated if he weren't holding down our defence last season and topping the league for goal line clearances. I loved Carvalho but as an individual, Silva I feel has been far more important for Chelsea. If you had the Thiago Silva we've seen at Chelsea in that Jose team then I reckon he would have been picked over Carvalho. Silva and Terry as a partnership would have been absurd. I think you'd potentially even be talking about a season with less than the 15 goals conceded in 04/05.

  3. Silva is THE greatest defender ever to ware a Chelsea shirt. JT 2nd. And to think we didn’t even see him ware our shirt in his prime! That’s scary. Let that sink in.
