He was the captain of the great Marseille team, he was the France captain in 1998 !
He was the brain and the charismatic lead on the field for these. 103 France caps and 54 times captain !
He won several championships in France with Marseille and Italy with Juventus (where he was forming a magnificent midfield pair with antonio conte 😀). He won the champions league with Marseille and reached the champions league final several times with Juventus.
As a coach he reached the champions league final with Monaco (eliminating Real Madrid and Chelsea), won title in France with Marseille, stayed 1 year in Juventus to promote them immediately back to first league.
As the France coach, he reached final of Euro 2016, won WC 2018, league nations 2021 and is in the WC final 2022.
In short his CV is immense, as a coach or as a player.
He holds his plank for an hour a day 😂
Well, if Southgate walks away and the French allow their Zinedine Zidane obsession to run away with them…

All these so called pundits pushing for Southgate to stay in the job need to look at a manager like deschamps and realise that England have a seriously underachieving manager.!!!!!!
England doesn't have anywhere close to the coaching and team talent and intelligence that France has. Smarter nation, better team.

I’ve been a staunch defender of Deschamps for years. The people that criticize him say that his playing style is boring and too conservative. That with the players he has they should take more risks and be more attacking. Maybe Zizou would play a more attractive style but would they be as successful? Maybe not.
Deschamps is a great manager. We will tomorrow if he is the greatest

France had a serial winner in the dugout, both as a player and as a manager, (I'm talking leagues, Euros, World Cups, CLs, the list goes on and on) and yet he is under pressure because the French public want to replace him with another extraordinary winner. Oh, and he won, of course.
We, on the other hand, have a bloke who has never won anything, as a player or manager, and has failed three times in situ. Oh, and his penalty miss pretty much sunk our 96 hopes. That's nothing, I listen to you planks for hours.
Because of Mbappe, leading his frontline, putting fear in defenders from committing and creating goals. Take away Mbappe, France will not have that confidence to stay compact deep and let opponents dominate the ball. The messi final dance story is getting ridiculous and overshadows talents like Mbappe who is more deterministic to lead teams to victories. Messi limitations have shown in many games when he was crowded out in his preferred middle-1-2-attacking into the box plays. Messi is predictable, Mbappe with his explosion is harder to play against.
He is good. He knows what he is doing. He finds a way to win. Easy. All the things most of the frauds are not. Why discuss his playing? It does not matter at all. How does he lead? That is all that matters. You carry on worrying about tactics, players, methods, philosophy, project. Southgate just is not made of the same cloth. France lost what six players? So what? Southgate would have moaned, made excuses.
