  1. Thanks to Graham for many of the miracles you've led the team to achieve! As for fans, I want to thank you and the team for many of those unforgettable nights. For the good or bad, we had them together!

  2. Arnold has done very well with quality of players he had to his disposal. Thanks Arnie! Hopefully, after a short break we can see you back in the A-League or in an Asian competition….

  3. I just heard the CEO of Football Australia say “We need a coach that understands the Australian mentality and can navigate an Asian qualifying process.”
This stinks of Tony Popovic who is THE WRONG choice.
What we need desperately is an international and preferably European coach with his finger on the pulse in Europe where many of our players and fledgling unknown younger players are plying their trade. They should be a coach with ties to the German or Dutch styles of playing that suits our physical style and that chooses tough uncompromising players to suit. Asian teams are also stacking their squads with South American and European naturalised players, so this needs to be considered.
Popovic’s success in the Asian Cup with a club team ten years ago is completely irrelevant ten years later.
He has failed even in the A-League since then and would be a massive backwards step, bringing very little of the aforementioned attributes at a time when we desperately need to reconnect with the European game.
We need a coach that the players actually like, too. Speak to Popovic's previous squads and you’ll see how they see him.
    Popovic is the wrong choice.
And don't even start with Muscat.
Appointing him should come with the resignations of the whole FA Board and their export to a labour camp in Siberia.
    Well done also to Arnie.
His coaching against Argentina at the World Cup was one of the cleverest things I've seen ever from any Australian Football Coach and even with a severe talent drought, he almost pulled it off.

  4. Australia needs to treat our south-east Asian competition much, much more seriously.
Indonesia and Vietnam are two examples that have made massive strides in recent years. With mostly domestic-based players.
We suffer from a chronic case of over confidence when playing against our near nieghbours.
    Arnold's time was up.

  5. This has been a poor year for Football in this country. Matildas failed at the Olympics, Olyroos couldn't score a goal in their qualification tournament, Socceroos losing to Bahrain at home & underachieved at the Asian Cup.

  6. Graham Arnold he was so lucky to have all Federation in his pocket 3 times coach if Socceroos almost 12 years what has he achieved nothing thanks to his mate in Federation

  7. Selection options include and likely limited to
Popovic, kisnorbo, kewell, muscat, renard, rudan
And most of these options play a formation the Socceroos are horrible at 😅

  8. There is no doubt of 2 things here. GA has given a vast portion of his professional life to Australian football and for that he deserves respect – but perhaps even more so for his recognition here and subsequent action to step down with the realisation he is not able to take Australia any further than what he has done. This is the act of a honest man and also deserves respect.
I plead with Football Australia to reevaluate where it was planning on spending whatever funds it does have and redirect them into being prepared to enlist and employ someone with a proven track record of capability to take our players to a level beyond "spirit, guts, commitment & effort" to actual "tactical awareness, finesse, decision making and skill." The only player from the current roster who comes close in any way to that style of player would be Ajdin Hrustic. The team moving forward needs to be built around him, just as the Matildas have recognised they need to be built around Mary Fowler.
The new team motto aint rocket science? Play smarter, not harder.
