Really well put argument on this. Really difficult subject and you are right about the world view being upside down. I find it really weird as its more of a club issue than an FA issue. The players are from the same team and are mates. Common Sense needed here.
The F.A is using bentancur to punish south american cultures norms. They'll never woke up to the fact that its kind of racist but jurisdiction rules….if he said it in England they can do whatever they want to him.
Sean, Mate. Are you old enough to remember Mark Bosnich, the Aston Villa goalkeeper giving a Nazi-salute from the Paxton Road end of the old Spurs ground. As far as I recall, Bosnich received no FA sanction, all he did was apologise to Alan Sugar. Makes the case against Bentancur, insignificant.

To put this in perspective…I work for Fire Service and if I said something like that about an Asian colleague or in a public domain, I'd be out of a job!!! haha Take being a fan out of it. I'm a Spurs fan, but this is a multi-cultural environment and they need to show it's not acceptable. The point is that culturally people needs to learn that what might be acceptable in their culture isn't acceptable in this environment. I would be sacked for it!!! haha

Sean, it is 6-12 match ban. I agree it is hypacritical. However, in perspective, a social media star who makes a comment that does not allign with the wokeism of western society often end up destroying their career. Unfortunately, more than likely he could take the full brunt of the match ban because the Premier League has to show to the World that they don't tolerate any form of Racism. Of course we know that it was said in jest. However, little Lord Jimmy down the road now has hurt feelings. That is how stupid our society has become. Toughen up society, I say.
I think Bentancur needs to think about how he publicly speaks about people. He's paid a lot of money and there is responsibility that comes with that. There are also laws. Uruguay and Argentina have massive problems with racism and it's time they got their houses in order.

I think its laughable that Enzo is going without a ban for something similar (perhaps worse) offense. Both should receive a ban and be educated. It makes zero sense to ban one and not the other

An Aussie comedian here was hounded online for like 1 year straight by fanatical BTS fans cause he dared make fun of their favourite group. They will form an online mob and harass you in any way they can even contacting YOUR local authorities or employers or government to cancel you and they usually get their way by the sheer volume of complaints to those organisations. It's a cultural thing, it's a South American thing. I play golf with some Korean and Chinese friends in North London, 2 of whom are Spurs. When this story first broke they all to a man laughed and said 'we feel the same about the Japanese'.

Sean, I have to say this. You can't have ANY element of racism in the workplace. As a white man its easy for YOU to say you don't agree with the potential punishment and that it's only words. What Bentencur said maybe just words to you but you ain't from Korea and you are selfishly looking at the narrow picture of how the ban will effect OUR team.
A hefty fine as you put it will mean nothing to someone who earns hefty money…I say BAN him as well as giving him a SUPER HEFTY fine. We can then put it in the LESSONS LEARNED log and send a warning to others. I agree with you on the lack of consistency but I have disagree with you on the way you think he should be punished.

I totally agree with everything you have said Sean 100 per cent. Cannot stand racism, but we are now being controlled by people who decide what you can say and what you can watch by what they conceive to be racist. Apparently, they are even changing mary Poppins from a u to pg after all this time due to discriminatory word. From what I see, Son and Bentancur are friends, whilst on duty for Uruguay he has said something that was silly, but meant as a joke. He should get a fine and a couple of games ban and the usual re education so he doesn't jake the mistake again.

As an Asian growing up in australia, I get it (also annoyingly constantly get mistaken as Korean at games). Racism should be stomped out, and he is a role model. But you're right about the difference between saying something in jest and maliciously. Also, if youve ever been to South America, they are unfortunately just a little bit more racist than the rest of the world. It's a cultural thing. Agree with your point about shorter ban and significantly larger fine, and consistency. One thing I disagree with you on is that any other white person would do/think the same. 12 games is excessive, he is being made an example of It is not right if the FA is getting involved with one player and not another. Agree that there should be punishment on the player. It happend on international duty and therefore should not affect club level, other than a big fine and whatever else the club deems fit. If the ban should happen, would cup games for the FA cup and Haribo cup be included in that? Europa games should be fine. Good to see you back mate!
South Korea is a massively racist country, it’s deep rooted into their society. If you are a poor immigrant from Asia or Africa you will be overtly discriminated against, western people more subtly, this is due to the poor being THE most hated. There are no anti discrimination laws and due to the almost untouched purity of their bloodline these views are widespread. Koreans getting upset over a cheap stereotype need to look within.
Sean, there’s an inconsistency already! When Rodri made the remarks he was away on International duty. So was Fernandez! So how can FIFA be arbiter on one and not the other? Another thing, and Rodri is I luck with this. UK citizens, and foreign nationals, apparently, made complaints to Kick It Out (KIO), a UK Body. If people made a complaint to a UK body, the FA are bound to act. How many French people have complained to KIO? If none, or very few, the FA won’t act 🙄🙄. Once again fantastic you’re back 👏👏👏
