Manchester United are lacking. We’re conceding silly goals, we’re being overrun in midfield and we’re not scoring enough goals. It’s a big problem, and an essential part of that problem starts with our dynamic on the left and right wings. Manchester United were once renowned for our great wingers. Think back to Beckham, Giggs, Ronaldo and George Best, these players are undisputed icons in the game. United don’t have a player like that anymore, we almost had that level in Marcus Rashford two years ago, but it’s really not clicking for him anymore. We know what he can do in a United shirt though. Competing with him is Alejandro Garnacho, who might have the potential to surpass Rashford in the pecking order. The dynamic between the two is an interesting one. It’s difficult to make a meaningful argument to suggest that either player should start over the other, especially when neither have been able to lock the position down for themselves. It’s a tough one, and the choice will undoubtedly have big consequences, but it’s worth discussing today…

Rashford is Grieving it's as simple as that
Its 2024 and this deluded content creator is still talking about Rashford. Used to follow you religiously but now you sound like those Arsenal TV shows we all laugh at
Our inverted wingers on their weakest side congests the penalty area. If Rashford does start (I wouldn’t play him) then play him on our right and Amad on our left, ie on his strongest side! Garnacho always needs to play on our right ie on his strongest side! If our manager insists on doing what he does by insisting on this inverted wide players. At least fkn change it with in game rotation!
Not fkn rocket science is it!
Giggs – left footed played on our left!
Beckham – right footed played on our right!
Ffs Erik stop playing our wingers on the side of their weaker foot!!!!!
Garnacho will over take rashy and I love rashford I hope he gets back to his best
Rashy gets more parking tickets than goals these days
Rasmus Højlund gets very little supply from the wings but he has 10 goals in 30 games . Garnacho has 10 goals in 60 games . Garnacho more than often will go for his own score and lacks crativity and is often reluctant to play someone else in ……………….and I never like his reaction if one of teammates
scores , to me he looks begrudging . That's what I see . I would not like to be a full back at Man Utd with either of them in front of me and hoping for cover and chase back . The forward devision has been riddled with problems , Garnacho , Rashford , Sancho , Anthony , and back to Greenwood who is a huge loss . Then Rasmus Højlund was intoduced and things are still in a mess and Zirkzee is skillful but not quick enough . The Premiership needs speed and lots of it , we don't have enough pace or the players with pace are hiding it . This will be a difficult season once more , but would I take an FA Cup win YES , but eighth in the league is very poor for this club .
Rashy's form dips every time Shaw is out injured or Shaw is out of form. Considering Shaw has MISSED over 50% of the games he could have played for UTD through injuries.
We need a top quality LB. like Shaw. But, without his constant injury problems.
The 22/23 season Shaw was brilliant and as a result of a top quality LB overlapping and helping create space for rashy. Rashy was able to run at the defence and score a lot of goals. If not January, then the summer transfer window a LB has to be a priority.
Rashford has been shit after his huge contract. No one mentions that anymore
Rashford… Sancho's mate. PR team. Going out on the piss instead of playing. Complains about the "hate" he gets. cannot play with his back to goal. Can't be bothered to track back or only does it occasionally.
Weve had good players we've let go before: Wellbeck springs readily to mind.
We've given players the boot, treated them super harshly.
But with Rashford it's different.
Different to Lingard and Cleverly, different to Gomez…
He's not a young lad who needs to be protected anymore. We are not winning any major trophies with him in the side.
He's a handicap because he just doesn't do enough and still gets in the team. Still stays on when other attackers are hooked.
I just don't have any sympathy for him.
There's never been a more overhyped, overpaid academy graduate.
It's the fame. That's why he is at United because the club's ambition is to be famous and so is Rashford's. Nothing to do with winning or football at all. If it was a Darts club that would suit our owners and the social media teams.
Garnacho is playing for a Barcelona move. Rashford needs to feel loved by united club and fans, or will just close down, by playing to his contract. The man has played when he shouldn’t have through different managers, who needed a saviour. Garnacho will give more cos he wants Barcelona, that’s his end game. Rashford will play through pain for the love of the club and fans, but they have to show the love first.
It's the cancer, it's ETH. Kick him out, and players should return to their natural form.
rashford has the lowest football IQ of any high profile player
The only time Rashford puts any real effort in is when his contract is up for renewal, over paid, overrated and his career will go the same way as Martial's. Get rid play Garnacho!
Garnacho is amazing lol Ten Hag is a bald fraud and he's always picking Rashford over Garnacho/Amad when Rashford hasn't had 1 good game in years
As a united fan I find the way Garnacho is championed a bit weird. In some ways he frustrates me more because he is getting into positions to hurt teams more frequently but his decision making is shocking. As Ste says both need to significantly improve – the benchmark is Mo Salah ! Rashfiords salary and seniority mean I expect motte from him – absolutely- but right now neither are an easy pick. Rashford proved he can be elite but is way off that. Garnacho maybe can reach that level. It’s a nightmare scenario. I’d give rashford the starting position til Christmas – then if no better it goes to garnacho.
These comments are not productive lmao. Why does everyone hate Rashford so much?
Ste Howson..are you mad?. Neither of them are giving the goal contributions?. Seriously,??? garnacho is obviously doing better numbers so far this season for his minutes, should have got a goal aswell against brighton had zirkzee not got in the way. Rashford has 0 goals 0 assists
Garnacho 1 goal 1 assist and should have another goal.
Ste Howson so obviously hating on garnacho and has done ever since he broke into first team. Didn't even give him credit for his sensational over head kick against Everton. Garnacho has been brilliant for us. The whole world knows(apart from Howson) he should be playing ahead of rashford
I love Rashford and just because he sits on the bench doesn’t mean it’s over for him at United he can fight for his spot back if he doesn’t that’s on him
Rashy hasnt been playing well for a bit now and its coming down to teo things i believe. First, hes not attacking players while on the run, hes receiving ball to feet too much and his first touch is not progressive its get the ball under his foot and then attack the defenders. When he was in the 22/23 season he was varying it up but you saw him receiving the ball maybe little but sooner but then taking on defenders with his first touch. Hes now running eith defenders instead of at defenders and putting them on their back foot. Second and maybe its just from.what ive seen but his intensity levels when training are poor. Saw hus latest shooting drills and none of it is at even a scrimmage pace. I was listening to an old interview with rooney and sturridge talking about shooting after practice and theyd take maybe 5-10 shots afterwards but it was at game tempo game speed, high intensity levels … Rashford on his IG post looks like hes just kicking the ball in his backyard with very little intensity. He doesnt seem to have the same level of play like he had earlier. As for garnacho, he's still young and learning but what he needs to work on is his intent with the ball. He was doing well coming in later in the game when defenders were tired and he would run at them and cause mistakes or tired legs vs fresh ones but if he starts or now ppl have caught onto him, he needs to vary up how he attacks or where his runs come from…. Id say all the wingers aside from amad make such basic down the line runs for or with the ball that even TAA would look ramos esque like covering them up. Either theyre not allowed to make different runs or theyre choosing not to but theyre too predictable and not intense enough at this point.
Rashford is gash and Garnacho has always been grossly overrated.
I don't believe the current offensive set up from ETH plays to the strengths of his wingers. Most of the time the wingers are facing double teams because United don't get forward fast enough anymore and rarely get in behind the defenses like they were doing 2 seasons ago. I also believe United's opponents are trying to neutralize Marcus as a priority and challenging the other forwards to beat them. United midfielders did fine last season (Bruno, McTominay and Casemiro) were all pretty solid chipping in goals but the other forwards were not great. Hojlund and Garnacho had a couple of hot spells but noone really did big numbers. A gameplan needs to be built around Marcus and freeing him up for more opportunities. Otherwise you'll get 15-20 goal involvemetns from any of the wingers.
Marcus is a better football player than Garna. But for his sanity I would let Marcus leave and by consequence Garna will be the new scapegoat. Never ending cycle from this fanbase.
Comparing a lazy, out of touch 26 year old to a raw, hungry 20 year old is lazy punditry. I know you have to pump out videos for money, but do better. Rashford’s attitude alone should get him benched. At least Garna has some balls to attempt to put the team on his back.
No accountability for Rashford! He's simply not getting it done when we need him the most!
Dynamic? You have to move to be dynamic, and only one of them does. The other looks short on confidence to me.
Ste garnacho has no game time internationally or for club lately…how do you expect him to have any form of
I think you could level the same accusations of a lack of football intelligence and poor decision making in his play on Rashford too – but at 26, it's much harder to argue that he's young and it'll come with experience.
Garnacho is still very raw. Rashford is clearly not good enough to take Man Utd to the next level. If Rashford is providing 3 or 4 assists a game keep him on for 60/70 mins and throw Garnacho on as an impact sub. If Rashford continues to mope and play within himself, there is going to be no choice but to play Garnacho. Rashford is too inconsistent and not mentally resilient enough to be a United talisman. Things get to him very easily you can see it, he's a very sensitive person and I don't think he is cut out for the pressures of being at a top club. For the sake of his mental health i think he should move on to a club with lower expectations. I honestly think those tears at the FA Cup final was because he thought it was his last game for United. They weren't able to sell him because of his form and wage (thats on his agents and the club, Marcus just wants to play for United, he quite easily would have taken less)…and now he's stuck. Hyped up to a level he was never going to achieve, maturing at a very toxic club with changing managers and forced to play through injuries which could have affected his long term game. Whatever the future is for United, Marcus isn't part of it. But this season is going to go to shit if he doesn't step his game up. Garnacho is stil a kid he doesn't need that pressure or he could get ruined like Rashford
Rashford isn't some 30 goal a season beast. We wanted him to be, he did it, ONCE, but that's it. He's not that great. He looks like he's absolutely sinking into the ground, he's disappearing before our eyes and there is NO fight there, it's not like Messi or Ronaldo where a criticism will bring a hattrick. He can't bring himself to fight for his spot, we've seen that. Rashford is worth 40, 50, maybe 60 million? Take that money. We need someone new in there, BADLY. Garnacho is a much better prospect, looks like an awesome talent whenever he plays, NEVER seen Garnacho criticised like this. He's not needing this criticisim, definitely doesn't deserve it, he and Kobbie are our brightest prospects at the club currently.
For perspective: every season we keep Rashford, even WITHOUT a big transfer fee coming our way, we lose 18 million quid. We could save 80 million by getting rid of him, and from there? Kvaratskheila? Nico Williams? Xavi Simons? Rayan Cherki? There are exciting young players out there.
A rare misfire, Ste. 14 minutes of disputable fluff. Garnacho might not be the horse to bet on, but he's more purposeful than Rashford has been. We can't keep talking about playing Marcus through bad form. That time has gone.
Bench him and make him earn his place back.
Saying the fans and media have gotten to him and thats why he plays badly… the excuses never end
