Marcel van der Kraan is a Dutch football expert and he has given his insight into the feeling within the Netherlands as they prepare to face fierce rivals, Argentina.
He says many within the country are not happy with the style of Louis van Gaal’s football. Some going as far to say that the style of football is being ‘crucified’.

What you saw decades ago, would not be relevant today! Football evolves, so does the players, the rules, the tactics, the coaches/manager……Example this year World Cup. There's no Italy even from previous World Cup. Germany knocked up early even lost to Japan…..now every top players has plus minus the same skill sets….that's unheard off decades ago!

Quality of Dutch players is poor. Apart from van dijk being world class. 7-8 are decent players. the best are average! The days of total football are long gone and van gaal has done a good job from the players he has at his disposal. Dutch football is in a bad state right now!

When's the last time they actually played attacking football? Even in 2010 when they reached the final, they played horrendously! When Gakpo is you biggest attacking threat, Van Gaal's current style is your best bet.

Holland are a limited team but they pushed Argentina all the way.

Crucifying Dutch football? The Netherlands pulled off a miracle through LvG and his tactics, substitutions in that game and were in the end unlucky. It literally came down to the last kick of the ball – against one of the tournament favorites… pretty good performance.
Albeit it was a slow game for them, remember Argentina are 35 – 1.
