Erik ten Hag’s got a crazy new 3-1-6 system for Manchester United this season, in the hopes of fixing his side’s recent defensive frailties. The acquisition of Manuel Ugarte from PSG might not be one that looks immediately exciting, but when examined in the context of the formation change it’s one that makes a lot of sense. Adam Clery breaks down the players strengths and weaknesses.

  1. ugarte did well about tackling or defending but his slow thinking and keep ball too long and late pass will be problem.
but the most important about this clip is "stop spout nonsense shit about ROY KEANE if u have non-knowledge about him"

  2. That is not really the initial eleven of Manchester United, Bruno is not our striker, he is playing there due Højlund is injury and Zirkzee was not in a 100% physically, but when they are recovered they will play from the beginning every match and also Yoro plays for the right side and he will not replace to Lisandro. The real initial eleven is (When Shaw is back he will play in the left side and Dalot in the right side):
    Onana
    Dalot/Shaw
    Lisandro
    De Ligt
    Mazroui/Dalot
    Mainoo
    Casemiro
    Rashford
    Bruno
    Diallo
    Hojlund/Zirkzee

Ugarte will play when Casemiro is not available or for Mainoo in some matches.

  3. Though I don't think he's quite as limited on the ball as you're making out, I do take the point about his limitations. We have Mainoo and Bruno to come and get the ball from the defence though. His limitations in possession will be far outweighed by what he offers the team when we don't have the ball.

  4. The footage of the ball from Onana to Dalot is telling. The central players should be moving forward, not so much that they can't recover of course, when that ball is in the air in anticipation of Dalot winning it. If you notice even after the ball has entered the space and Dalot is clearly running onto it, Fernandes and to a lesser extent Mount are still jogging instead of busting a lung to get into the box for an eventual cross. Both should be 10 yards further up the pitch when the ball hots Dalot's head.

  5. we have players that are great on the ball, mainoo for one i think thats why it makes sense, we need that brutal tackling CDM we have it at CB with the butcher

  6. But leaving Ugarte alone in midfield seems like a bad idea if hes terrible under pressure.

In any case, we'll just have to wait and see how well they play as a team and if Ugarte can learn a thing or two from Nistelroy + Ten Hag & his teammates on how to be calm under pressure

  7. Too many football experts is making me dizzy. You lot are more difficult than the media. Just creating your own game and your own formations. Why not do your coaching badges? 🤦‍♂️

  8. It doesn't, honestly. The transfer actually makes no sense, it is just fanfare as usual. He is the exact same kind of player as Mainoo and Casemiro. Safety first with very little progression. Defensively solid and good at retaining the ball.

We needed a ball progressor. A younger Eriksen with enough legs to run around but similar progressive passing. Our midfield has nobody in it to get the ball up the pitch ffs.

He went to PSG for 60m and they sold him 12 months later for a loss. Says it all, really. We will look back at this as an awful bit of business.

  9. A little bit of “weird” editing in that video where it seemed to jump. For example when you were talking about the Newcastle game

  10. This video is messing with my feelings….I don't know how to feel about Ugarte now…oh well see we shall. A lot was said about Martinez when he first came in, just ask Jamie
