The potential signing of Carlos Soler from PSG could be bad news for James Ward-Prowse at West Ham. With head coach Julen Lopetegui blessed with an abundance of midfield options, Ward-Prowse’s first-team opportunities may be severely limited. The set-piece specialist was an unused substitute in West Ham’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace, following a brief appearance from the bench against Aston Villa. With Guido Rodríguez, Edson Álvarez, and Tomas Soucek all establishing themselves under Lopetegui, and Lucas Paquetá also featuring in midfield, Ward-Prowse could face an uncertain future at the London Stadium. Don't know much about this soler lad but he's at PSG so he can't be terrible, even so, he is going to be an upgrade on JWP without a doubt. West ham are going to click sooner or later, wouldn't be too concerned about anything being a hammer tbh, realistic top 10, possibly European spot👍
He looks like he's just doing enough. That's not good enough. First 5 or so games he played well, but since has been far too safe.

I’m not trying to compare them per see . Soucek. Solef and JWP have very different qualities. What JWP brings is composure, dead ball specialism, home-grown quota, professionalism and leadership (former Saints captain). 7 goals from midfield last year is also not awful, plus his assists. Getting rid or only using him sparingly would be unwise IMHO.

I’d like to see JWP stay. I think that we will see JLO use a few different lineups and formations over the course of the season and JWP plays a crucial role in that tactical flexibility.
I see JWP as a back up number 8 now. If Soler comes in I see Soucek as a back up number 10. Alverez if he stays is our starting DMF, Paq our no.8 and Soler our new number 10 (if he signs). Zouma and Cornet have to be removed from the books this window one way or another. If Soler comes in we will have two too many senior players. I think Ings will be next on the chopping board either Jan or next Summer cos we will want another striker.
As much as I like JWP, he doesn't really fit the way the new team is shaping up. I can't see him playing with Soucek, Alvarez and Rodriguez…and possibly Soler coming in.
Not to be that guy, but I was one that said we should keep Soucek over JWP, that Tom would thrive and James probably wouldn’t. One reason, Tom is the second highest scorer for midfielder at West Ham during the premier league era behind Nobes. None of our other midfielders will come close to him, and goals scored this season. Another reason is that Tom is a lot more versatile than people think if you watch him for his national team, he plays completely differently than he does for us. He is capable. And lastly, no one plays harder for the badge. Apart from Mark Noble,in the last 3 decades there has been no one who has played harder for the badge. I reckon in the decade after he leaves the club, he will gain cult legend status with our fans, and he will deserve it.
FYI: apparently Aguerd has turned down a loan move to a Bundesliga side.
JWP for a first season was a good season so jwp needs to step up in training and in the game's he gets it's in his court.
