Maresca got to view first hand how bad Sterling has been at Chelsea, summed up by his 0/10 performance vs. Leicester.
From a Man City fan's perspective, Sterling scored all those goals at City because he was told to be at a particular part of the field at a particular time for simple tap-in, and not because he was an exceptional player. This was evident from how many open goals he had missed, especially during crucial times. He was average at Liverpool and now again average at Chelsea. When Chelsea offered some 50M quid for him was one of the happiest days of many City fans. Thanks Chelsea ( especially Mr. Boehly?)
its even more strange how Sterling is being made to look like some angel when he himself forced a move away from liverpool to join city for big money.

Sterling is not accurate, balanced or in possession of a good first touch.
But the club must have known that when they purchased him. I was shocked he was bought.
Regardless, £320k+ a week and the potential to be another Winston Borgarde hovers over Chelsea like the plague.
The reason for the statement is easy to determine.
With Maresca at City with Guardiola I imagine frank discussions were had with Sterling about his accuracy, first touch and body action which really do not smack of elite athlete.
Just how you end up with 42 players before the season starts and a fire sale as other clubs can smell the mess you are in is quite telling.
How, Chelsea still have a poor defence and no striker is also illuminating.
If they fail to move these players on then I imagine Financial Fair Play rules will result in a heavy fine or demotion.
You have to hope they can still win on the field else if things continue to go badly, the Chelsea hierarchy will get shot of the manager, again.

The manager was talking him up pre-season and then dumps him. Strips him of his number and the manager then says he does not care about the player. What that tells every player is you cannot trust the manager.

The part that is slimy is how late the communication came to Sterling. Maresca had just claimed in an interview a few weeks ago that Sterling is an important player for Chelsea, and to be told that you aren’t on the squad the day before the opening game is strange business imo

new manager come in, he got his own tactic, each player has their own capability, strength, determination, a winger doesnt mean they all same capalibity. so maresca come in, after see how sterling play, he feel he no good and tell him the truth … nothings wrong . same as chiesa of juventus.
