Raheem Sterling is seeking “clarity” over his future at Chelsea after being left out of their Premier League opener against Manchester City, live on Sky Sports.
Sterling had featured in all of Chelsea’s pre-season fixtures during which boss Enzo Maresca said he was “one of our most important players”.
But the 29-year-old, who joined the club in 2022, was told on Friday that he would not be included in the Blues’ 20-player squad – a decision fully supported by Chelsea.

Chelsea stats: 75 appearances, 18 goals 8 assist. But in the prem alone 59 appearances for 14 goals and 7 assist. If you’re playing a player 300k a week and he’s meant to be in what’s the complete peak of a players career/beginning of decline for some that’s worrying numbers. Considering his 30 in a few months and he still has 3 years left on his contract. Chelsea are screwed cause no team will take on his contract. Cause who in the top 6 would? No body, especially with FFP. And which of the other sides could even afford to be playing one player 300k a week and committing for the 3 years? Chelsea’s system of having 43 players with another 7 out on loan this is just the beginning of the issues with their contracts. To make it worse for him he’s only ever played in the prem unlike Lakuku who somehow scores goals still and still stealing a wage he has been getting loaned out and at least is proven out of the prem so this is probably the beginning of the down fall of Raheem officially and probably a key piece in the probably future down fall of Chelsea we will look back years later as a ugh oh moment
