This was inevitably going to become a problem when you put most of your bang average players on 8 year contracts and silly wages. Other players will expect similar treatment in the squad.

As a lifelong fan and ST holder it's heartwarming to see a player llike Conor, who joined the club around thexage of 6, break into the firat team and xaptain the side. He's technicalky better tham some give him credit for and i'm disappointed he hasn't accepted the contract extension, a threefokd salary increase, and fight for his place – if he does well he can tgen tey and negotiate a longer deal. However, competion for places will be tougher this season with Lavia now fit and the creative KDH on board. Had been fit last season would Conor have played the number of games he did. The direct counteracting football played under Poch suited Conor and Chalobah, but we rately can control of games and conceded a lot of late goals because we coildn't keep the ball. That should all change under Maresca.
I find it funny that so much is made now of having academy players in the team yet when we were winning trophies under Gullit and Vialli with teams made up almost entirely of mostly foreign signings. If they good enough, like Reece James or JT fine, but it shouldn't be such an issue if we move on players that aren't as good.
The new owners have made mistakes and get a lot if stick on transfers, but they've also made some very goid signings like Palmer, Gusto and some that were derided like Cucu and Caicedo are starting to show their worth.
Looking forward to the new season and hope we don't sign Osimhen – give the impressive Guiu a chance. Osimhen could turn out to be just as lazy and disruptive as Lukaku, and not what we need at all.

Gallagher would sign if its a 350k a week 7 years deal. But why sign when club upfront thinks you are only squad level? And why go when you got another year left and you can have more club options with a good sign on fee that would just cover the entire year of Atletico's wages? Every reason to stay
