Positive discussions occurred on Thursday among all parties regarding the transfer details. According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG is offering Benfica a €70 million package plus some players, including Renato Sanches, for Neves. The transfer expert notes that the French club is close to securing the youngster, with hopes of finalizing the deal by next week.
Since his debut for Benfica in 2022, the 19-year-old has become one of Europe’s brightest prospects. Last season, he excelled in Portugal, playing in 55 matches for Benfica and earning a spot in Portugal’s Euro 2024 squad. Acquiring the Portuguese talent is a major win for PSG and could also be beneficial for Manchester United, who are still keen on signing Manuel Ugarte.
Erik ten Hag aims to strengthen his squad with a new central midfielder, with Ugarte being their top target. Although personal terms with the Uruguayan have been agreed upon and he is eager to join Old Trafford despite the lack of Champions League football, United is hesitant to meet PSG’s €70 million asking price.
Negotiations for Ugarte’s transfer to Manchester United are ongoing. The news of PSG’s imminent signing of Joao Neves could be advantageous for the Premier League club, as it might lead PSG to lower Ugarte’s price now that they have secured a replacement.

Ugarte 2 MU
PSG need to stop being silly on the Ugarte deal. They paid 60+ for him and are obviously unsatisfied that is why they want to move him on. Not wanting to eat the loss is them basically saying they want us to pay for the decision they regret making, that's silly. They need to accept the 50 odd milli we are offering them and stop being silly.
