You only manage/coach by committee if you've don't have the confidence in your own ability.
What on earth are you talking about Pearce? Not one single International team will come knocking on his door to manage them. Not one. Same as Moyes & the prem, nobody will come knocking – an utter & classic talktripe pundit keeping his options open. Laughable 🤣
I totally disagree with Stuart, the next manager will do just as well as southgate, lf he gets the same draws with easy teams that southgate got, he'll probably do better, Southgate never had a clue against the better teams, also the so called great players of England have look at themselves, the looked levels below the Spanish players, Rodri v rice no contest rice is starting to believe his own hype, at least now he knows he's not world class
Germany WC 82 Final LOST ❌
Germany WC 86 Final LOST ❌
Germany WC 90 Final WON ✅
England EC 2020 Final LOST ❌
England EC 2024 Final LOST ❌
England EC 2028 …. IT’S COMING HOME!!!!!!! 🏴🏴🏴🏴
Coming from a man who put david james on the pitch as a centre forward 😂
Southgate seems to have got rid of the toxicity the English squad once had and did reasonably well over all but Southgate for another international team? – can’t see it.
Premier league team ? … can’t see it
Southgate is a nice person . I get that. But he dident win anything. Thank you for taking us to two finals but I don't know. I don't think it's fair that Southgate is blamed for all of this. The players need to take responsibility as well. People forget that.
Gareth Southgate has a much better record than almost all previous England managers. However, he missed real opportunities to win something and some of the performances were poor. His tactics and team selections with the players available were often puzzling.
Southgate gets far too much credit. With the riches of talent that the England team/squad possesses, most managers could replicate or even surpass what's been achieved. Unfortunately I see the last 8 years as a failure to make the most of what's probably the most talented squad we've had for quite some time, as well as some very average opposition sides (when you compare them to past Italian/Spanish/French squads).
Thought it was private? Some pal you😂
Looking after your mate Stuart. Very commendable. Truth is, however, Southgate bungled it in every tournament, despite having the best players, the easiest of draws, and the weakest oppositions. Over eight years, no England team, no England manager will have such luck and such opportunity, probably for another 58 years. Southgate is everybody's favourite, kindly and empathetic uncle and has fine human qualities but more is required to be a winner at the very highest levels of professional sport. Making the right decisions at the right times, and a capacity for extreme ruthlessness are required – for instance, Alf Ramsey dropping Jimmy Greaves for the '66 World Cup final. We saw time after time after time that Southgate doesn't possess these attributes when the chips are down. Moreover, England played tedious safety-first football for the entirety of Southgate's reign, so he didn't provide success nor entertainment. If a happy, united squad is the criteria for success than Southgate was a success, if winning tournaments is the sole yardstick he was a complete failure, and at 7.5 million annual salary a pretty expensive one.
Southgate has an amazing squad, and any manager would find it hard to not succeed with that squad, but he still managed to underperform with that squad, which should have won tournaments, instead of just being runners up.
A ' private conversation ' he had and yet he broadcasts it on the radio🙄
Wasn't very private then was it? Never trust a journalist. Even a 2 bob one
Not private is it if your telling the world on radio donuts 😂
Thank god safegate has left….magnificent job…the draws hes had will never be repeated…the General public know what he's done…shite us what he's done
Let's see if safegate gets a top job…I bey he dosnt
Ironically the Italian National team would be a great fit for him I think.
A new fella comes in? Maybe it will not be a fella !!!
Last group game what is Pearce on about ? Gareth made 4 good subs but he should have made a 5th in Toney on for leggy Bellingham so he would have 2 Number 9 in t box
that accent is just atrocious….heading to the audiologist now
If you were Southgate,s mate you would have told him he made a pigs ear out of it…
Southgate threw away two euros because He put loyalty ahead of talent. Good riddance. When you are playing a strong world class team like Spain, you start a strong 11 and not your favourites and be playing players out of position. This watermelon Southgate put Bellingham at LW and Foden at RW. Two CAM. When I saw that formation before the game, I knew straight away that England had 0 chances of winning that final.
Watkins showed how deadly He can be in the 10 minutes He played against The Netherlands. And Southgate still started Kane ahead of Watkins in the final. When Kane started that final, it was like we were playing with 10 Men. Will never forgive Southgate for messing up both euros final with His stupid substitutions and stupid tactics in both finals.
Pearce living in cloud cockoo land no decent PL side or National FA will require the services of that Turkey
Maddie will come home before any trophies.
Follow the money, that’s where you’ll see Pearce
Maybe with friends like Stuart you dont need enemies, however the conversation happened a while ago and maybe he was not so kiss arsie in the actual conversation, I say maybe as I think he probably was VERY kiss arsie, people dont want to offend and so lies replace truth as the kind truth, but its not kind it's deluded, Southgate thought he had done a great job all alone and stay for 8 years because of liars like Stuart, Yes the atmosphere improved and less cliquey, but his job like any manager was to get the best out of the players available, which he failed to do after the first chance lost of winning. Safegate was England's biggest problem and that was completely down to Southgate.
Gareth Southgate is our version of Roberto Martinez and Belgium. Wasted a good generation of talent.
What Stuart Pearce is missing is the point that Southgate had a fantastic group of players and never sent them out with any intent to go and take a game by the scruff of the neck.
I would have been cheering England to the rafters had they won this year. But looking back on it, the football they played was the most dull and negative I’ve ever seen from England. So you’re bound to look back and say “what if?” What if they’d played more attacking in those two finals? They might have lost them playing that way, but we lost anyway.
I can never forgive Stuart Pearce for leaving David Beckham out of team gb for the 2012 Olympics. I'm convinced we would have won it if he was captain.
We will always have 1966. My grandfather told me it was a wonderful day.
Portugal is a good shout
Southgate definitely chose the wrong starting lineup for the final and who knows what would have happened if he had chosen the right one ? That aside he has certainly made us a force in world football again and changed the divisive culture that used to exist in the squad. These things should not be overlooked when reviewing his time in charge.
Will Gareth get another managerial job based on his England tenure, what would the expectations be of a chairman who appointed him & at what level would that be at?
We can all have an opinion, but his next move will be a good indicator as to what his legacy as England manager is truly like.
