Liverpool Have Two Reasons To Justify Their Decision Not To Signing Leny Yoro.

Liverpool might need to reevaluate their centre-back options after missing out on signing Leny Yoro. The defender has completed a move to Manchester United, reportedly worth up to £58.9 million, and could face Liverpool next season in the Premier League.
Liverpool had shown interest in Yoro this summer, but they believed the 18-year-old preferred joining Real Madrid, leading them to withdraw their pursuit.
It remains uncertain if Liverpool will seek a new centre-back this summer. The speculation increased earlier this year after Joel Matip’s departure was confirmed at the end of last season.
Currently, Liverpool have Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Jarell Quansah, and Sepp van den Berg as their centre-back options. Gomez was frequently used as a full-back last season, while Van den Berg spent the previous term on loan at Mainz and is heavily linked with a move away this summer.
At 21, Quansah earned Klopp’s trust to be a regular starter alongside Van Dijk. He will hope for the same under Arne Slot this season, raising the question of whether Liverpool needed to sign Yoro at all.
In terms of statistics, Quansah and Yoro are quite similar. Liverpool typically looks for centre-backs who are comfortable with the ball and can maintain a high defensive line. It remains to be seen how Slot will approach his first season as head coach, though it’s expected that his tactics will be similar to those of Klopp.
Regarding passing, Quansah has the advantage with 5.08 progressive passes per 90 minutes compared to Yoro’s 2.29. Quansah also outperforms Yoro in aerial duels, with a success rate of 67.2 percent compared to Yoro’s 63.8 percent.
Liverpool will use detailed analytics to assess their players and potential targets. The decision not to compete with Manchester United for Yoro could be due to their confidence in their current options or a belief that other players would be a better fit for their system and offer better value.
