Rating EVERY England Player At Euro 2024

All in all; it’s been an incredible eight years for Gareth Southgate as England manager. There was restored hope in the nation and progression on the pitch, but that progression in the end stagnated. Was this because the squad got *too* good for his own good? Adam Monk discusses…

  1. Comparison to de gea is poor, Man Utd defence has faced more shots and conceded more under this new ball playing gk stuff and only works with teams like city

  2. It’s fantastic watching all these Poundland football managers say how rubbish Southgate was. Then in the next breath they say that Walker was the problem. Or slag off Trippier without referencing that he’s mostly been selected to keep it tight at the back.

Walker goes with the closest threat. Watch your channel buddies’ tactical explanation about how Spain moved their players.

Or how almost no one in the whole country saw this as Southgate rebuilding a team and trying things and adjusting. It’s not a team that’s played together much.

I think the FA should save its money and chose a new rotating manager for each game from the obviously talented crop in the comments…

  3. Southgate let us down, set us up for failure

    Kane had no runners

    Midfield constantly overran

Palmer would've absolutely changed the way we played, showed it time after time

Foden and Jude cannot play together

Your conclusion – England need another yes man 😂😂

    BRING US TUCHEL!!!

  4. Well done Adam, you were spot on, both of you.
So if we take the players that didn’t start much/at all and put them as starting, ie. Gordon LW, Gomez LD, Wharton CDM, Palmer RW, Trent RD, and Watkins as CF – that don’t sound so bad if you chuck in Stones, Guehi, Foden and Bellingham, and we’d probably be champions now. Perhaps?

  5. It’s not that I disagree with what you saying, I just don’t understand what system you are going to play that is going allow you to play Wharton at 6, Rice pushed up as well as Bellingham and Foden? I think we have to accept that a difficult decision has to be made by the new manager as to who we are building this team around and then build a balanced system around them, with an excellent back up on the bench.

  6. I feel Kane has faced a lot of unfair criticism. Was kind of a square peg round hole scenario with the system and he got 3 goals, finishing joint top scorer and scored an important goal in the knockout. It's a known fact Kane will drop deep and needs runners off him and for some reason, Kane, Bellingham and Foden were more often or not all in a line about 5 yards off the opposition defence. Foden barely made ANY runs forward and played consistently and finished 0 goals and 0 assists. That's ridiculously poor for an attacking midfielder. Kane actually played his part to an extent

  7. If Reece James is fit, he’s the future England right back, not TAA. TAA will always be a defensive liability that we can’t afford. James can attack and defend to a world class level, let’s see how his fitness holds up this season.

  8. So what you're saying is maybe play players where they actually play normally rather than shoehorning every good player into place they don't play. That's mental. Someone should probably call Southgate and mention that to him.

  9. I'm hoping the new strategy will involve a harder working striker that maybe not so lethal but allows our play to be on the front foot, we have plenty of goals in the team if it was allowed to get into the opponents penalty box more

  10. If Kyle walker was TAA…. He would’ve been the main reason why England lost according to the media and pundits🙄 he created the most chances in the first 3 games and played the least mins 😂😂😂😂 its jokes

  11. Guehi was definitely England’s player of the tournament. Stepped up when it counted and looked head and shoulders above the other defenders. Hopefully he becomes a main stay for England in future tournaments.

  12. Guys – I’ll do a piece explaining how vital a lone striker’s movement is, and how it impacts every one of his teammates behind him, it’s why it’s called leading the line. It will give a clearer understanding as to why this England team couldn’t press, couldn’t play out from the back, and couldn’t play more exciting free flowing football this tournament.

  13. Criminal that Gordon didn’t play. He would’ve solved so many of Englands tactical issues (Kane would have a runner, Trippier wouldn’t have to provide the width, and no one would be shoehorned out there out of position).

  14. Kane was – (as people were saying to quote you) – consistently bad throughout the tournament and there's no excuse for it. He's been England's saviour so many times in the past, but those days are gone and it's time for a change. I can't see him being England captain in the next World Cup if he makes the squad as he's beccome too slow and predictable.

  15. I agree that Wharton should've have been used. He's sort of non showy one or two touch forward passer that English fans or managers have never rated. FFS even German fans took 10+ years to rate Kroos for doing the same thing. One of Bellingham or Foden should've been dropped for Palmer who was obviously in form. And I agree that Kane can't press or play effectively with two 10's, because when he drops into midfield there's three 10s. He needs runners going beyond him but despite that he was still shite. Btw Guéhi did put a foot wrong when under no pressure he shanked the ball straight out of play when trying to pass to Watkins late on against Spain. One throw-in and 5 passes later it was 2-1.

  16. Ever since the Euro 2020 final Kane hasn't looked the same player. In that final he looked like he couldn't break into a little sprint to try and put pressure on the Italian players who were only about 10 feet away, a lot of the time he looks like he hasn't got the legs. I wouldn't be surprised if a similar thing happens with Kane that happened with Owen; we'll find out when Harry retires that his ankles were done and he couldn't run properly.

  17. Englands biggest weakness is it's vast array of exceptional talent.

"Too many chefs ruin the broth" as they say.

You either need someone with a compatible style to come in as manager and force their creed on the team to the best of everyones ability, or you get a great, worldly manager who can truly bring the best out of everyone.

Luckily theres a special one hidden in the shadows… The revolution may be on the horizon…
