Euro 2024 Final Day! | Euro 2024 final preview LIVE from Berlin!

e e e [Music] I’m not a believer in Fairy Tales um but I am a believer in Dream It’s a massive moment for our nation there’s still one more that’s all I’m thinking of there’s still one more game Zin I feel like it’s um going to be my biggest game in My Parade the most important game of Our Lives we got one more to make [Music] [Applause] history in my lifetime I never thought this would happen I really did I’m really confident if I’m honest you know it’s um it’s our time I’m sure it’s time I think that we’ve got better players than anybody in this tournament and I think tonight we’ll see us at our best I think we’ll really go for it the only reason I did the job when I took it on was to try and bring success to England as a nation it’s coming it’s coming football’s coming home it’s coming hi there welcome along to Berlin take a breath Garis C gate says he believes in dreams so England fans are you daring to dream we are 3 hours away from kickoff and we are with you every step of the way as we count down to what will no doubt be a roller coaster ride in Berlin this is the venue the iconic Olympic Stadium will Harry Kane lift the European championship trophy here tonight the atmosphere is building in the fan Zone behind me it’s a sea of white England shirts as followers of the three lines bring on the noise the fighting talk has beg Pella better than fish and chips been a great atmosphere in Berlin between the two sets of fanss so the question is is it coming home not long now to wait until we will know for sure England take on Spain tonight in the Olympic Stadium can the likes of Bellingham Kane and sacka become as iconic as Mo Charon and Hurst and the rest of the boys from 66 they might just do so if they end 58 years of hurt so look our chief reporter car solicor is outside the Olympic stadium for us but first let’s cross to our senior reporter Rob Dorset who’s outside England’s team Hotel good to see you again Rob what’s happening there at the moment then we know that the the players are kind of in there at the moment what’s their plans before kickoff well Vicki I’ll tell you what it’s incredibly loud where you are it’s getting louder where I am because we expect the England team to come out and get on board those two buses two buses we haven’t seen them have two at this stage until this stage of the tournament have we get on those in a less than an hour’s time now and make the maybe 25 minute 30 minute Journey to the Olympic Stadium a few miles away in this city for trying to make history that’s what the all the intents and purposes are of this England team right now while I speak to you they’re just about finishing their pre-match meal now a high carb meal something to give them some energy because we do know there are concerns about England’s energy levels having played two lots of extra time uh having had a lot of players who are still nursing injuries in this squad a lot of Jude Bellingham Harry Kane still looking that little bit exhausted but the adrenaline Declan rise told us will absolutely See England through from here and so they’ll be having a team meeting in the next half an hour or so just to try and talk through calmly those last minute tactical plans to try and beat this very very impressive Spanish side and then they’ll get on board the buses here and head to the Olympic stadium for what could be a night of Destiny for them yeah certainly could look you’ve followed this team throughout the whole of G South Gates tenure hasn’t haven’t you so look how does this compare to like three years ago and that game against Italy the best way I can describe it is this feels very different the mood around this England Camp from back then I think back then there was belief that they could win it that they could beat Italy in the final but there was hope that they might do that there was an awful lot going on in our country in the aftermath of the Corona virus pandemic wasn’t there and that sort of thing I think it was hope Dean rice told me the other night that he thought England were a little bit naive back then Harry Kane said similar I think now the belief has turned to expectation this England squad believes they are ready to win a major tournament this England squad believes it is their time and I think that’s evident around the whole place you look at GIS Southgate you listen to the way gareis Southgate has been talking in the last couple of days I interviewed him uh on Friday afternoon at their team base in blanken hine and he said uh yes it was exciting yes he’s a proud Englishman uh he said but beyond that he said we’ve got to take the emotion out of it and he knows the players are emotional he knows they’re going to be excited and and and ready for this occasion they’re going to be really hyped up for it they’re going to be nervous even the captain Harry Kane said he would be nervous on this stage in Berlin tonight so Southgate wants to try and calm them down go through their processes remind them of of the Tactical changes that he’s made that has got them this far it’s the business head that Gareth Southgate has put on if you like rather than the emotion that he feels and the rest of them feel uh for being here Southgate said he’s an England fan in the Dugout he wants to win this match so much it hurts he admitted the last five or six weeks have been a roller coaster but he said none of that matters now it’s a one-off game where England need to deliver on the the parameters that have been set out for them Harry Kane talked about the small margins that might decide this game one way or another we know those don’t we we know that it was penalty kicks that cost England the chance of lifting the European championship trophy three years ago at their home ground in Wembley Dean rice said it still hurts him to this day watching the Italian players go and lift that trophy in their his home stadium so I don’t think these players have ever been more motivated to go and win a game like this but they have to do it with calm heads and that’s the message from GIS Southgate now and the impression I get from Southgate is his entire tenure has been building up to this moment England have made a world cup semifinal they’ve made a world cup quarterfinal last time out in Qatar they’ve now made consecutive European Championship Finals he thinks the they’ve done the hard yards and they’re now ready to win it that’s his message to the players and I wonder what Harry Kane’s message to the players is because he revealed in the pre-match news conference last night he will give the final message in the England team huddle before they come out to the pitch it’s Harry kan’s the captain’s final words to those players that will motivate them to go on and try and win this final Harry Kane has never won any team silverware in his entire career what is he going to say to those players with his own motivation and his motivation for for his teammates to try and Win It alongside it wouldn’t it be extraordinary if the England Captain’s first bit of silverware was the European trophy European championship trophy tonight which would end England’s men’s team’s 58 years of hurt it’s an extraordinary occasion yeah it certainly is when you put it like that for sure look Rob um we’ve got like three hours right in three hours time they will have kicked off so that means around two hours time we’re going to know that starting 11 just remind us of the dilemmas facing Southgate yeah look I don’t think Gareth Southgate really wanted to make any changes to his starting 11 but the impression I got several days ago and I said this on Sky Sports News was that any changes he made to the starting 11 from the team that beat the Netherlands 2-1 in the semi-final would almost certainly be Fitness related rather than tactical decisions if you like and we know he’s had a problem at left wing back don’t we we know that Kieran trippy came into this tournament with uh a calf strain that he’s been nursing throughout the tournament I can tell you that he picked up a bit of a groin strain in the first half of that semi-final against the Netherlands that’s partly what forced Gare Southgate to make that change at halim and bring Luke sha on so my understanding was that it was always going to be a late decision that the England man took today whether Kieran trippier was fit enough to start and it’s looking increasingly likely that Luke Shaw is going to start in his place which would be an extraordinary story Luke Shaw’s first start in any match since the middle of February that’s when he last started a game for Manchester United and it’s been a slow process for him getting back to Fitness he’s worked so hard both at Manchester United and in this England training camp to try and get fit to play a part for England he managed 42 minutes in the first game in the quarterfinal against Switzerland he managed 45 minutes from halime against the Netherlands in the semifinal it now looks like he might be paused to make his first start for England in this tournament but can he play a full 90 minutes that will be the the niggling doubt for gareis Southgate having played so little football of late can he go all the way everywhere else I’d expect it to be pretty similar England’s system might be a little bit more fluid than the three center backs that we’ve seen in the last couple of games I think it might be three center backs when England have the ball five when they have but they might switch to a back four as well to allow beo Saka to get more down that right wing and attack more directly we’ll see when they actually get out on the pitch but not many changes for gas sag that’s for sure the one at left back could be the only one that we see okay brilliant sir from you obviously that bus behind you is going to leave and go towards carve Sola our chief reporter who is at the Olympic stadium so let’s now talk with you now car you’re there already are there many others with you right now yes there quite a lot of fans who are now being let into the stadium and uh England’s journey by bus from their hotel will be very similar to the journey that we’ve just had to the stadium of course their hotel is significantly nicer than the uh The Establishment we’ve been staying in although it is a very very nice hotel I don’t want to disrespect the people who’ve been looking after us but the journey uh from where they are to here will only take about 20 25 minutes especially uh with a police escort and when they get here they will see This brilliant beautiful Stadium uh behind me they’ve played at some fantastic stadiums already during this tournament uh here in Germany this summer but this is the real deal this is uh a really historic Stadium uh for good and bad reasons it reminds me a little bit of the old uh Wembley but is a fantastic venue now the capacity for the game this evening is around 71,000 the record attendance here I think in the old days was uh more than 100,000 but this evening 71,000 and the official allocation for the two teams 11,000 for England 11,000 for Spain but of course there have been tickets available for sale uh from a long long time ago I think 6 seven months ago so a a lot of those tickets would have been snapped up and they would have made their way uh to English and Spanish supporters but I would still expect the majority of the supporters inside the stadium uh to be England fans and let’s hope they make as much noise as they did in the semi final against the Netherlands uh in Dortmund yeah they were making quite a lot of noise here that’s for sure um in terms of what I’m seeing behind me it’s very outnumbered uh in terms of England towards Spanish fans it’s like spot the Spanish fan here at the moment so just remind us of the the figures when it comes to England fans do you think they will completely outnumber the Spanish at that Stadium I think there will be more England fans here this evening than Spanish fans just uh walking around Berlin today and yesterday I would say that it’s about 5050 uh when it comes to the split between English and Spanish fans but I think inside the stadium uh I think a lot of Spanish fans have seen their sides in big finals before they’ve seen their side win the World Cup they’ve seen their side win the Euros so perhaps it’s a bigger deal for England fans than it is for Spanish fans but there will still be a lot of Spanish fans inside the stadium behind me I’ve seen lots of them uh in Berlin today but I would think England fans are just going to Edge it when it comes to numbers uh for tonight’s game inside uh this wonderful [Music] Stadium yeah and what about Garis gate there because to be fair it hasn’t been the best of tournaments for him has it he’s had beer thrown at him by fans earlier on in it and now he’s going to lead them out is the first England manager to lead them out in a major Final on foreign soil it’s certainly been a roller coaster for him it has roller coasters a really good way of putting it but that’s life as the England manager when you the England manager you have to put up with everything that Gare Southgate has had to put up with uh times I think he’s felt it’s been too much he has felt that people have crossed the line I think his job has become harder and harder because we live in a multimedia age and more and more people are expressing their opinions uh there are lots of different outlets now available not just social media where people can express their opinions and at times some of those opinions have crossed the line I think you know I think Caris Southgate fine criticize uh him as a football manager you know criticize his decisions criticize his formations criticize the players he picks and the tactics uh but don’t criticize the human being and I think uh quite a few times this Summer that has happened and although he’s tried to uh block it out I think it’s impossible to block everything out in the modern uh sort of digital age that we live in and it’s hurt him a lot I think you know some of it he’s taken personally and it could well be a contributing factor uh if and when he decides that he wants to resign as England manager potentially this could be his final game as England manager uh you know days weeks months ago we were talking about that being a real possibility I think what’s going to happen this evening is win or lose I don’t think Gare Southgate is going to want to come out and make himself the story I would be surprised if in his uh postmatch press conference he says that’s it for me I’m leaving because then the focus would be on him and not the players and the squad so think it’s much more likely that Gare Southgate will take a few days to take stock uh speak to his family speak to people close to him and decide what he wants to do next yeah it’s interesting isn’t it because we’ve spoken to quite a few former England players and they’ve talked about the fact that you know they wanted him to bring on Subs a little bit sooner and perhaps they were calling for Tonia and yet he brings on Ole Watkins and Cole Palmer and he gets it spot on so in that respect he’s not got much wrong has in this tournament uh no not at all and I think one thing that he’s got really right is that he hasn’t listened to the external noise you know what people like me say what other journalists say what former players say it doesn’t really have an effect on his thinking he’s got a really tight uh unit around him uh of coaches uh who he trusts who he works with very closely they are the people he listens to they are the people who uh you know you know change his mind sometimes when it comes to big decisions the outside noise doesn’t really have an effect on him at all and that is one of the major pluses I think for him uh in this tournament because so many people were calling for him uh to make changes to drop Harry Kane people were even talking about dropping uh Jude Bellingham people were saying Phil foden Jude Bellingham can’t play in the same side uh there were so many things that people uh were saying and uh people were CR izing him for so many different reasons but by and large you have to say he’s picked pretty much the same side okay he’s changed the midfielder next to Declan rice it was Alexander Arnold then it was Gallagher now it’s Mayu he’s had to sort of uh change uh the left wing back left back position a few times but that is because of injuries and he’s changed the formation but he’s done that in previous tournaments as well so he has been successful at sticking to his guns blocking out the ex Journal noise not listening to people uh like me and pundits former players other journalists and you have to give him a lot of credit uh for that because in the past England managers have been affected uh by all the noise around them and outside pressure and what’s been on the back pages uh of newspapers yeah don’t worry car no one listens to you uh just finally put it into perspective how amazing would it be if england end 58 years of hurt by finally winning from all the possible places in the world right here in Berlin you know what I’m I’m going to be like G Southgate I am going to say I’m not going to answer that question with all due respect Vicki because I think the mindset of the England players and Gareth Southgate has to be just focus on the game tonight focus on doing your job uh focus on our preparation what we’ve talked about how we’re going to approach the game let tomorrow take care of itself don’t be thinking of Buckingham Palace don’t be thinking of parades don’t be thinking of going to Downing Street don’t be thinking of nigh hoods don’t be thinking of bank holidays and parties and how crazy everyone is going to go back home do that after the game for the time being just focus on doing your job for 90 minutes could be 120 Minutes could even be penalties but just focus on your job block out all the external noise from people like me and you thank you I think carve solal good team speech it might hire you yet right stay with us plenty more build up to this evening’s Euro 2024 final to come who will be lifting that trophy at this stadium in around 5 hours from [Music] now e e e e e e e e [Music] hi there welcome back to Berlin where England and Spain fans are making their way to the Olympic Stadium ahead of that 8:00 p.m. kickoff 900 p.m. local time uh we’ll bring you all the important team news as soon as we get it and live pictures of the players leaving the team hotel as [Music] well so look atmosphere is building in Berlin it’s an certainly is a party atmosphere here let’s head back now to England and a fan Park in Sunny Brighton and join our reporter James Green James there’s still plenty of time before kickoff but that hasn’t stopped the England fans down here in Brighton they’re out in numbers already they’re excited for what’s to come and plenty of them have dressed up for the occasion including the Three Lions themselves they’re here Lads look I love the fact you come out in numbers you all got different shirts on as well look what’s the excitement and the expectation going into the final ah we have to be in the final surely now come on we got the team to do it I think we can do it I think it’s going to be 2-1 England hands out I think we’ll go one n up first half Spen will come back maybe but we can do it we’ve shown in the tournament we can come back we can come back and we got Jude we got the players we got the players on the pitch that’s a four assessment uh look are you surprised that England have got to the final after maybe the way the tournament started um performance- wise maybe but the squad we’ve got and the talent we’ve got I think these guys can do it I’m I’m backing them today you’re backing them and look so much talk about Gare Southgate throughout the tournament done a pretty good job again though hasn’t he yeah 100% I think it’s unfair the criticism he’s got and I think do you know what he is done so unbelievably my old my old man here over here has always said never reach a final never do this and we’ve made backto back finals semifinals he’s the man for the job is coming home let’s have it let’s have it boys they’re excited but let’s talk to his old man right now because this is an outfit and a half this is an outfit look we we spoke a little while ago and and look we haven’t experienced this sort of run of success this run of finals and semi-finals but last four years G has bought so much joy to many fans hasn’t he honestly he’s brought us back with the english team sorry we B he’s brought us back in the we love the England team now and that’s what he’s done I’m I’m I’m look I’m 59 and I’ve never ever experienced a better team we’ve got now and we are going to win it tonight we have to win it tonight because we deserve it we deserve it there we go a lot of fans are saying that at the moment uh go look how you how you feeling excited you all come out red loads of color it’s it’s been some Journey to get here though hasn’t it you you enjoyed the experience very much so we’ve been to all the pubs and ssex to celebrate all come out to celebrate and look what are your expectations going into the final because Spain have had a really good tournament so far well you never know 5050 isn’t it I believe in the boys I believe smash it going through it mate we’re going to smash it we’re going to smash it is it coming H coming it’s cominging well they believe and they certainly believe behind me we are counting down to kickoff here in Berlin for you on Sky Sports News Gare Southgate is of course aiming to become the first England men’s manager to win a trophy since Al Ramsey did it back in 1966 now Harry redn was a contemporary of those boys of 66 and he joined us earlier I was playing with Bobby Moore Jeff first Martin Peters you know I was a young you know I was a younger player but I was I was part of that you know I was in in around the first team at that time um it that it was an amazing day you know the the whole country came to a standstill and but it was very different you know when you talk to the boys I used to talk to Bobby and Jeff and that about that great day and it was amazing when you think they won it and they went back to a hotel in London they went into the reception and the wives weren’t allowed into the reception after the game it was only the players that played and all the dignitary or whatever the wives had to wait around in the 40 till they finish so they could go out somewhere and have a night out have a drink or go to a restaurant it was very very different I think they got a, pound bonus for winning it um but that was certainly the greatest day in uh you know in in English football history so it was a special day well look there’s been plenty of talk around the future of gas Saka hasn’t there who came into plenty of criticism earlier on in the tournament now Harry redar feels that it’s a difficult decision that’s awaiting the England maner if they are to win tonight I don’t know I mean if he wins it the world his oyer again really is he he holds all the aces does he stay on um sign a fantastic new contract with England or I’m sure there’ll be a job in the Premier League somewhere for him um so really he’s going to probably have great options I don’t know if he wins it does he think I’ll go out at the top or does he think well got a World Cup I’ve got a group of players here that are young improving are going to be good enough to challenge and win a World Cup that’s a possibility as well I don’t know only Gareth will know that you know he’s been through a lot the last couple of weeks he had some Almighty abuse let’s not kid ourselves every time you picked your phone up there was someone sending some stupid message about gup or some joke it was it got out of hand people throwing beer at him you know he doesn’t warrant that he’s a good man uh but it all got out of hand for sure so I don’t know he may just think do I need that anymore maybe it’s you know I’ll do my job and and see where we go but I think let’s get tonight out the way first we do need to win it anything else but a win I’ll be honest with you you know I don’t think it’s you know people say oh we got to a semi-final we got to a final with this group of players we’ve got to win it we’ve got to Win It those the thoughts there of har redn and these the scenes live VI here in Berlin as we are building up to kickoff the crowd here are certainly loving the atmosphere we’ll bring you more next [Music] I’m not a believer in Fairy Tales um but I am a believer in dreams no question I’d swap everything you know I’ve done in my career to have a special night it’s Gareth time it’s our team’s time I know what it’ mean to me and I know what it’ mean to our country we would love to give everybody a special night it’s our time I’m sure it’s our time come on England e e e e [Music] I’m not a believer in Fairy Tales um but I am a believer in dreams no question I’d swap everything you know I’ve done in my career to have a special night it’s gareth’s time it’s our team’s time I know what it mean to me and I know what it mean to our country we would love to give everybody a special night it’s our time I’m sure it’s our time come on England [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh they are in fine voice aren’t they here in Berlin they’re certainly in fine voice behind me as well they’re getting louder and louder as we build up to kickoff for you here on Sky Sports News around 2 and a half hours to go I spoke to Jamie carer earlier as well and he told us if England beats Spain it will rank as the country’s greatest sporting ever achievement I mean it’s going to be right at the top hasn’t it because I mean we talk about 66 but I mean I can’t remember how many people can’t remember it you know really so In Our Lifetime you know I’m trying to think of think you know obviously England won the Rugby World Cup didn’t he in Australia that was some achievement but but football’s AR the nation’s game this is our game that everyone gets sorts of a wound up about excited about emotional about so I think for England to win you know a major trophy certainly on foreign soil as well uh I think it’s got to be right right at the top I think we have to be at the top of our game I think we’ll have to put in a performance that we haven’t seen from this team H in this tournament so far I think we’ve had probably in the semi-final against Holland thought we were fantastic in the first half I think the very first game I think in sa were fantastic as well I think we’ll need more than a half of of good football I think we’ll need that I think we’ll also be asked to defend for long periods in this game as well that’s something that we haven’t been asked to do throughout this tournament everyone we’ve played we’ve been better than really I mean Holland was almost like a 5050 game but I felt we had better players than them I think we we showed that within the game we a lot stronger than them I think at times we’ll be pushed back and we have to defend and as I said we haven’t really done that through this tourm so there’ll be a lot of questions asked of you know maybe the goalkeeper and the back four because they’ve been fantastic throughout this tourn there’s been a lot of criticism for England but that’s mainly been the football that we’ve played and the attacking players there’s no real question being asked of the defense because no one’s really looked like they could score a goal against us I think that will change tonight it’ll be a lot more as of them so I think it’s to step up in class than what we’ve seen in this tournament in England will need to step up as well look one of the main selection dilemas for GIS appears to be who starts at left wing back should it be Kieran trippier he started all the games so far but could Luke Shaw start in front of him I would go with trippier uh and there’s a couple of reasons why I think I think theu is up against Jamal I think initially our left back or left wing back whatever it may will be will maybe have to have his defensive head on initially and think basically H how I stop him this guy how Spain setting up and your M who likes to come inside on his left foot Tripp his right footed so I think from a defensive point of view I think that helps initially and you know at some stage maybe at a halftime or after an hour Luke shw is going to come on now I think if you start Luke sh is’s going to have to come off now it’s very difficult you don’t know how the game is going to be but you expected to be really tight and certainly think the M dra know behind you wouldn’t want to be bringing Luke Shaw off and bringing Kieran chier on you know you’re changing more of an attacking player to a defensive player unless GED something completely different and went with a Winger on that side that could happen but I’d have no problem with Kieran trip had playing that side initially with the idea that Kieran trip that Luke Shaw was going to come on at halftime or after an hour well look it has been three years hasn’t it since England’s heartbreak against Italy that was in the last Euros final back in 2021 and former England Defender Steve how believes the experience that actual experience will drive Gare Southgate squad on this evening I’m kind of a little bit Blown Away with the amount of criticism that the manager has got yeah of course the performances haven’t been great but to get back to uh back finals is is s such an achievement um as I said I think from the first one the lar because there the vast majority of them boys were were involved in that you know they’ll have learned from that um and hopefully from that experience of course you know what it’s like to to they know what it’s like to be on the losing side they’ll not want that failing again I’ve seen a few of the players bringing that open in press conferences about how difficult it was and they not want to repeat that so you know I think because of last time and the Lessons Learned hopefully that can go on to into this game and obviously the experience uh that they’ve gained as well um I think the the group has become a lot closer because of you know maybe the performances at the start of the the campaign and the criticism the players got the criticism the manager got and staff I think that’s unified them brought them even closer if that was possible so I think with that unity and togetherness and obviously they’ve shown fantastic resilience as well get over the line today well the big question is could the dreaded pord come into play tonight David Seaman knows what it’s like to win and lose in a penalty shootter doesn’t he well the former England goalkeeper has been impressed by the preparation that now goes into penalties and he’s full of praise for Jordan pford as well it is different you know and I’ve lost I’ve lost shootouts and I’ve won shootouts um and I think that what’s happening now is there’s a lot of preparation going into it there’s a lot of research going into not just like the normal P takers but people that that put their hands up in shootouts you know so that gets all put on record so people know which way they’re going to go so up up you know to a certain degree um but yeah like you said when we look back at the last shootout you know five perfect penalties you know and a sa from from Jordan who by the way when we now go into penalty shootouts we we’re thinking you know it’s not going to be like oh is he going to save one it’s going to be how many is he going to save because of you track record I mean look we all look at Jordan pickford’s Water bottle don’t we now that’s the level of detail we’re going going for is that new did was anything like that I mean did you ever ever I presume you looked at where opponents were going to take penalties and stuff when when you were playing for England but it’s gone to a different level now I I used to look at if they did anything different you know whether they had the little chip down the middle or or they did something different but other other than that I used to decide right at that moment in time the thing with the water bottle is if if it says on the water bottle Dive Right and then the guy puts it left you know you’re like you know I’d rather do it myself if honest you know I’ll take that research yet and then maybe I might go that way but I have to look at the player and try and work out which way he’s going to go that’s that’s how I would have dealt with it it’s a little bit different now but um you know I did okay yeah well Steve how was part of the Euro 1996 squ wasn’t he that lost the penalties to Germany we don’t want to remind ourselves of that right now but he’s told us that s Kate has shown great determination to reach this stage in his managerial career after of course missing in that decisive penalty shootter what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and I think the resilience that he showed afterwards as well was fantastic I mean I’m never going to criticize anybody for missing a penalty and I know we had a few of the lads with Miss penalties uh in the last final and I know Saka got got a lot of criticism for that for me personally I I I I wouldn’t critic criticize anybody and that was the same case with Gareth as well I think for them stand up as an individual to put that pressure on yourselves and not everybody wants it you know because you’ll get into there there’s are was players that you know on the training ground I’ll take a Ply I’ll take a p you look to see where they are and they’ve disappeared you know so you’ve got to give huge credit to anybody that stands up and and takes a penalty obviously GTH did that and unfortunately uh unfortunately missed but as I said the journey that he’s been on since and and of course obviously working with the fa then the other 21s and there’s a lot of the lads that’s in that Senior Team now that he’s he’s he’s had for a long time they trust him they like him the stuff coming out uh today about the players sort of say they want him to stay on regardless of the result um it’ll be interesting to see what Gareth does regardless of the result um you know whether he’s just thinking you know what I’ve had enough of this or maybe it’s the furthest that can take them um me personally I hope he stays on because I think he’s been brilliant for the team the job he’s done has been brilliant you know and this is where he’s got us to he’s got us to a stage where when we go into into an International Tournament you know whether it be World Cup or or european Europeans we’re we’re favorites or Joy favorites we’ve got great chances of winning these tournaments now and that’s where he’s got us to you know he’s been at it quite a while now obviously the under 21s then some of the players that he had there and now in the full Squad so he’s got the total respect of the players um and the way that he’s built it is is so special and what I love the most about it is he’s done it his own way you know he’s ignored everybody you know all the criticism that he’s got all the criticism that he’s had in this tournament as well he’s ignored it and done it his way look where it’s got us to another another Cup Final does he get the credit he deserves no no not at all um and I don’t know why you know because like you just said you know sometimes we’re favorites in these tournaments and getting us to two finals a semi-final as well you know’s he’s he’s doing a fantastic job um you but I don’t know whether it’s the English mentality or it’s just we want change you know and we always think that whatever level they’ve set people are going to kick on from that level it doesn’t always happen like that people always say that I’m biased because I know him well and I’ve known him for years and maybe I am but he’s a a thorough good guy he’s a thinker he thinks about every single decision he’s meticulous in his preparation you know I know that from you know when he’s working back with the 21s when I was with him you know as a captain he’s always been very sensible uh I think you know he’s not the media darling maybe but everybody wants him to be and that goes against him GTH always had stick for not winning not getting over the line but he’s done better than all the rest of the managers whether it people think you know he getss an easy run or the draw Falls kindly for him we got knocked out to Iceland we didn’t qualify in ’94 we didn’t qualify in 2008 two finals a semi-final a quarterfinal in G Reign is exceptional so I think he deserves an awful lot more credit than people give him uh and I think you know everyone just needs to to back off and for him as much as anybody else I hope we go and win it and I hope he’s he’s sat there tomorrow morning um just thinking y job done and I think there’s a good chance if they do that Gareth might walk away uh and I think that’ll be a real concern for us because whether we win it or not who’s next uh I’m not sure there’s anybody out there um that could do a better job at the moment it’s be very very careful what you wish for well look Spain are hoping to Spore the England party in Berlin tonight this L behind me have a lot to say about that though and we’ll have plenty more building to this evening’s final all the way through to kickoff stay with [Music] us e e e e e e [Music] good evening Vicki and our team in Berlin just resting of the inos era at Old Trafford the Dutch forward signed a contract until June 2029 with the option to extend for a further year United have paid slightly more than the 23y olds release Clause but the fee will be paid over 3 years rather than UPF front here what man united have had to say having had discussions with the manager and the leaders of the club I know how exciting the future is going to be here this is xer say he says I cannot wait to play my part in achieving success for Manchester United I’m a player who’s always dedicated everything to winning I’m ready for this next challenge to go to another level in my career and win more trophies it is a privilege to join such an iconic Club I have to take a short break now after being with the national team but I’ll be coming back ready to make an impact straight away Manchester United’s new sporting director Dan Ashworth had to say about the player securing a forward to enhance our already strong group of attacking players was a key aim for this summer we are delighted that we’ve managed to sign a player of yoshua’s caliber this early in the transfer window Yoshua is an outstanding Talent who’s ready to make an impact for Manchester United his ability and desire to grow into a world class player means that he will be a great addition to the squad that we’re building for the exciting season ahead and beyond having already achieved a significant amount in his career we provide Yoshua with the perfect platform to reach the next level under the guidance and support of Eric tenh and the coaching staff that’s been a Spanish victory at Wimbledon today where Carlos alcar successfully defended his title against the seven time Champion Novak jovic alcara becomes the first player since jovic to win consecutive wimon titles taking the match in straight sets 62 6 276 that’s Grand Slam number four now for alcar who’s still just 21 years old no male player has won more majors at his age but he’s still got some way to go to catch jovic a 37y old the greatest of all time in men’s tennis with 24 slams and there was some British success already today Alfie huitt beat Spain’s Martin de la Penta in the women’s single uh Wimbledon single finals to complete his Grand Slam collection in both singles and doubles in wheelchair tennis a Third Time Lucky for huitt after reaching the Wimbledon singles finals in 2022 and 2023 huitt showed no signs of nerves in the opening set two early breaks to win 6-2 de pente fought in the second fought back but hu kept his nerve sealed the victory 63 in the second set to become the Wimbledon singles champion and a 29 time Grand Slam winner in singles and doubles a lot of England fans watching the world match play darts at blackpool’s Winter Gardens before kickoff and the excitement’s already building after theit Tre van and bird produced something special 18 number two for Demitri vandenbberg [Music] oh hello Demetri venur back to back magical things have happened at tonight’s Euro 2024 final five-time major Champion turned up for his tea time with Sergio Garcia and John Ram wearing a retro England top the kepka seemed to fire up the home crowd who were in fine voice on the first te no doubt his opponents as well players are moments away from leaving the team hotel and heading to the Olympic stadium in Berlin for tonight’s Euro 2024 final we’ll bring you their departures plus team news right up until kickoff in the next hour here on Sky Sports News stay with us for all the [Music] Builder e e e e e e e [Music] England will depart for the Olympic stadium in Berlin ahead of their Euro 2024 final with Spain as the nation hopes to end a 58-year wait for a major tournament win in men’s football it’s been far from a smooth route to the final but Southgate side are there and can create history tonight the confidence level is grown and grown and we’re in a really good place I’m really confident if I’m honest you know it’s um it’s our time I’m sure it’s our time we’ll have to put in a performance that we haven’t seen from this team we’ve got better players than anybody in this tournament and I think tonight we’ll see us at best we’ve got foden Bellingham kmer Saka you know we’ve we’ve got we yes it’s finally here match day we’re less than two hours away from kickoff in Berlin as England looked to make history hi there welcome along as England prepare for a second successive Euro final we’re live to the stadium and we’ll bring you the team news the atmosphere is building in Berlin as we get closer to kickoff [Applause] up to 50,000 England fans are expected to be in Germany’s capital with Millions more cheering the team on back here in the [Applause] UK yes only one place to start and that’s Berlin where Gareth South Gates England side can make history tonight have become the first senior men’s side to win a major tournament since 1966 if they are crowned European Champions standing in their way are the three-time winners Spain kickoff is just under two hours away these are the live pictures of fans arriving in their numbers at the stadium looks like a decent evening in Berlin weatherwise everyone in good spirits [Music] [Music] okay these are the live scenes from the sky helicopter outside the Spain hotel we understand that that is the bus is just left with the Spain team Lis thef wente’s side with their 100% record in this tournament they are are the favorites and they have won this competition before it’ll be a tough ask for Gareth Southgate and his men but Spain have left they are on route to the Olympic stadium in Berlin it’s just a reminder of what Spain have done in this competition so far they beat Croatia 3-0 they pummeled Italy despite just a 1-nil score line that was the same score line they beat Albania by then in the knockout stages it was 4-1 Georgia 2-1 they beat Germany after extra time and in the semi-final of course they beat France 21 13 goals for three against 108 attempts 37 of them on target Spain have been very much the form side in this tournament okay so that’s the Spain bus then as for England Gareth Southgate and Harry Kane will be the two men leading England out in Berlin they’ve been reflecting on what it would mean for themselves and the country to win the Euros and join the lionesses as European Champions yeah I think that from the fans point of view you know we we as all fans growing up England fans and um yeah we know we had you know some great moments in tour but we couldn’t quite quite get there and um yeah from my point of view just from a with a Fan’s head on I know it had been an incredible night if we do achieve what we want to achieve tomorrow um in terms of the lesses I haven’t spoke to to anyone um obviously what they achiev was incredible and you saw how it brought the nation together in that moment so we’re hoping to do uh do the same the support I’ve had since I’ve been in Germany has been incredible throughout the whole season with with Bayern and and even here in the tournament you know every hotel we go to Every Stadium uh I really feel the warmth and the support not just from the English fans but from the German fans as well and um yeah I’m really appreciative of that and um yeah I’m sure there’s a few German fans who are wishing me well tomorrow and uh yeah as a professional you know all I can say is thank you because it means a lot to me it motivates me even more to uh to give back to all the fans that support me throughout my whole career we know what it would mean to us as a squad the the hard work that’s gone in um not just this group of players but players that have been with us for the last six or seven years who’ve played a massive part in this journey with us um and all of the staff that have been involved it’s really been a a huge team effort all of those people have helped create the culture that we have and um yeah we we we would love to give everybody a special night again can you take us into the dressing room those 15 minutes before kickoff um what message will you deliver to to the squad particularly to to those younger players who are experiencing this moment like a cobby Manu for the first time yeah well I think you know when you’re that close to kickoff obviously you after the warmup you’re kind of just getting ready everything’s kind of been prepared by then everything’s been said uh I normally have the you know the final word in the Huddle before we go out and um yeah at the moment I’m not quite sure what I’ll say but I’ll think about that you know over the next 24 hours and and try and get that message right But ultimately everyone’s ready at that stage you’ve been waiting a long time you’ve been preparing you’ve done all the hard work and now it’s just about going out there and executing and um enjoying it on the pitch so um even the younger players you know a lot of them uh are fearless and a lot of them when I just get out there and they they know their best talking is with the ball at their feet and um I’m sure that’s what they’re looking forward to plenty of England fans have made their way to Berlin to show their support for the team tonight out there for us now is Vicky Gasol Vicki tell us how’s the atmosphere with less than 2 hours until kickoff oh David it’s absolutely epic at the moment I’ve got these on because basically I can’t hear myself think behind me this huge crowd has gathered here from about 4:00 we arrived at 10:00 a.m. this morning and there was not a soul here really quiet quite eerily quiet in fact but there was that tension in the air as a few people were sort of Milling around and then slowly at lunchtime more and more fans arrived and then what you’re seeing right now is fans just having a whale of a time and I have to say if you’re a Spanish fan be very afraid because you are totally and utterly outnumbered by the English fans right here because they’re just having a great time they’ve been entertained as well yesterday we had ballet going on behind us for a few hours which is quite nice and then tonight we’ve had the scenes you you might be able to see here I can tell you now the sugar babes have just taken to the stage I can see them over my right hand shoulder here and they are literally just doing a little set so yeah the sugar babes are here um but aside from the sugar babes it’s just been a wonderful day I started talking with Jonathan northcraft this morning he went through the papers he told us what what England fans at home EXP and what the papers are saying really in terms of the Daily Mail they were reporting all these lovely stories from all the the players they’d gone behind the scenes and and spoken to the coaches the teachers of this team and told the backstory to how these players have got here we already know the back story to GIS cygate and there’s plenty of pieces in the papers as well talking about his future and what he would do next I think that’s the big question right now is that after tonight come what may whether G P can end 58 years of hurt it’s whether he wants to take them further and perhaps lead this special team to World Cup Glory if they can do it but tonight as Carvey and as Rob has told you it’s about focusing on the job in hand about getting the job done against Spain who arguably we know are the best team in this tournament they’ve won everything before them six games in a row no other team though in the Euros or a major tournament has gone on to win all seven in a row so it’s interesting to see whether England can be the one that upsets the Spain party perhaps tonight because I dare say if you’re a Spanish fan you’re looking at this England team and thinking we can get over them we can beat England they’ve done it before but remember if you remember back in 2018 if you can remember that far back GIS s and his England team beat Spain and he called it a blueprint a blueprint to the Future and I just wonder whether that blueprint will come in very handy tonight and whether he can get the better of this Spain team they haven’t been the best in this tournament by a country Mar but they have grown into the tournament they’ve used those substitutes even when some of us wanted the gide gates to use them a little bit earlier they’ve come on and they’ve made such an impact and that’s what he’s going to look for tonight he’s going to look for a squad performance not just that starting 11 it remains to be seen who who he picks will it be Kieran trippier will it be Luke Shaw who’s going to run that Left Flank that remains to be seen what we’ve got less than two hours now until kickoff so in the next hour in the next 50 minutes we will bring you team news we’re also going to see the England team leave as well they’re in their team hotel at the moment Rob dorsit there K solal is at the stadium ready to greet that team the Spanish team are already on their way and come what may tonight I think it’s going to be a roller coaster of a ride it’s going to be a fantastic evening right now it’s wonderful here the atmosphere is building all the time come back to us a little bit later we’ll just bring you everything before kickoff Vicki brilliant you’ve we all our appetites thank you so much so a brilliant atmosphere out in Berlin boyed by thousands of England fans in the German Capital these are the scenes in an England fan Park in Berlin the supporters have been in full voice as we get closer to kick [Music] [Applause] [Music] off I some credit haven’t he’s had a lot of stick in the early part of the tournament wasn’t working for England he’s changed it it’s a stick he want he’s probably on our best manager ever so I can’t argue what he’s done to be honest I think he’s been brilliant oh We’re Dreaming We’re Dreaming and Alie Watkins is going to get the winner and we’re going to be singing in the streets of Berlin tonight 2-1 England win yeah yeah definitely who’s going to get the goals I think thoden and I think of course it’s not just English fans who will be singing loudly inside Berlin’s Olympia stadial there will be plenty of Spanish voices too and they’ll be there in huge numbers as these pictures from outside the state show and there are no strangers to appearing in European Championship Finals having finished as Runners up in 1984 and winners in 1964 2008 and 2012 so lots of Confidence from the fans out in Berlin and England are being backed by a former heavyweight champion of the world too hi guys you know what I hear a rumors going around it’s coming home it’s coming home it’s coming football’s coming home come on the boys bring it home smash the Spaniards and bring it back it’s been a long time coming but I got total faith in all the ls do a business guys enjoy no pressure God bless bring it home so Titans feeling confident hopefully so are these fans arriving at the stadium in Berlin ahead of a massive night meanwhile back here fans across the country are getting ready for the game these the live scenes in Newcastle ahead of the 8:00 [Music] kick e e
