  1. UPDATE: Fabrice Hawkins has reported the French Chelsea Players are very upset with Enzo Fernandez.

    —–

I am not suggesting from this video Enzo Fernandez has discriminatory beliefs. But the chant is intolerant by nature and needs to be highlighted so people can learn and grow. Football needs to do better. Sorry for such a serious video but sometimes we gotta talk about this stuff. -Yan

  2. The people shouting racism can't be taken seriously. Get real people, these chants are just jokes as a part to a song. They don't say anything about the player's personal interactions with people of different races.

  3. I think that Enzo Fernandes not only showed no respect for the French team and his French teammates at Chelsea but he also bought the club into disrepute. The club have taken big stand against There was a dark period in our history where Evil racist groups recruited openly around the ground resulting in the terrible treatment of our own and visiting teams by racist thugs in the ground. On that Basis he should be sold asap even though he’s worth half what he cost.

  4. Even as a white Englishman having suffered at minimum xenophobia from Argentinian “friends” which meant me canceling my trip to the Brazil World Cup, I am so disgusted at this continued “acceptance” of racist and xenophobic “banter” from others involved in football. The south americans are the worst, but I have witnessed it in England (although it is getting better) and parts of Europe.
It is completely unacceptable and I would support Chelsea imposing a lengthy ban on this man.

  5. the guy is an idiot, I don't care how young, ignorant, lack of self-awareness, or whatever you say. Not just him but everyone that was singing that song. He forgot he's going back to Chelsea and it ain't going to fare well

  6. I ecpect better than this from Enzo. Granted last season EVERY chelsea fan about 2/3 into the season weren't even begging for wins we were begging for maturity on the pitch and even off the pitch. Sadly of the 10 or so games of copa america I watched I saw too much blatant disregard for respect of the opposition and fans. Ill go on record saying he should be suspended by chelsea for a few games at the start of the season. In my opinion hes not a nailed on starter whatsoever. I thought hed look mint coming off the recovery from surgery but he seemed very pedestrian in all the games I saw. If we can move past this thatd be ideal for the start of the season thats quickly approaching but this is on Enzo now to make this right.

  7. “Institutionalised cultural racism”
Look at the first world countries talking about South American culture. The colour of your skin isn’t an issue down here, there has never been institutionalised racism in our countries unlike in yours. The second we could make decisions for ourselves, the second we gained independence from your f*ng countries, we abolished slavery. Colour isn’t an issue here, it hasn’t been for being free, for buying houses, for taking the bus, for going to the bathroom, we see through skin, we all live together. That’s why we can use adjectives that describe one’s appearance without racism, it’s simply stating a fact, a fact that doesn’t make you any less than others. Nicknames like negro, flaco, gordo, chico, peluca, etc are all caring and rely deep within our culture, a culture heavily separated from institutionalised racism.

  8. People keep insinuating that the players on the French national team aren't French because their parents were immigrants. It's like saying that the players in Argentina are Italians because of their ancestors. Besides ignorant, it's extremely ironic.

  9. It effects more than the french it effects all our players who have foreign parents also if Chelsea don’t handle this properly as the french would like it could cause some to want to leave

  10. I haven't been following this other than now on your channel, Yan. Was it the whole Argentinian team singing these chants? Why does it seem like Enzo is the only one getting the focus in the news?

  11. Omg….
    I can't believe you said white privilege…
Get a grip bro, you're supposed to be this hip Chelsea YouTube dude who's a Chelsea fan….it's important to talk about a lot of shit btw…look Enzo fucked up….grow some fuckin balls and quit worrying about the money…btw, they should have sung the song that Mebeppe ain't no Messi-thats all

  12. What an Idiot…. you have a huge platform and millions of people follow you and small kids look up to you…. The EASIEST thing you can do is keep your mouth shut……

  13. Its a natural thing for Argentinians to be racist. Its not just a casual thing, they dont include dark colored ppl in anything and they do exist in their country. But most black ppl had to run to Brazil and brazil is also colour prejudice. Man, what can we do…….agressive arena indeed, let the ball talk

  14. You lost me at white privilege. Ffs you are part of the problem because you have bought into the whole divide by race ploy. You my son are unsurprised.

  15. Here is my 2 cents on this.
First of lets call things what they are and not mix and match. The chant sang by the majority of the team was xenophobic but it was not racist. Those 2 things while similar to a degree are different, and no the country mentioned in the chant does not make it racist based on the fact that a majority of its inhabitants are black. Would it still be racist if it was aimed at, for example, the Swiss national team saying that there players were from Albania or Kosovo? No, no it would not be racist BUT it would still be xenophobic. So lets not cry wolf when we have a coyote at our doorstep.
However, that still does not change the fact that this should not have happen and that now this is going to have a big impact on squad dynamic. I am by no means an expert at dealing with these kinds of situations but i can tell that we could see a big rift arise in the dressing room and that needs to be dealt with before it spills over onto the pitch. How exactly to do that? I suppose the best course of action is to have a honest talk with the whole squad and use that to atleast see where everyone stand. After that could there be departures from the club based on the decision on how to handle the backlash? Probably if not almost definitly yes. Now how is that going to be executed i can not tell but i do hope that the solution ( no matter what that is) will be effective and not cause too much collateral because anymore damage to the club internaly could be far more dangerious than this isolated case.
All and all i hope we can get this done as cleanly and effectivly as possible before the preseason. Last thing we need is another shit-show of a dressing room with a manager who did not sign up to be a babysitter…

  16. I am really displeased with Fofana's comment. It even portrays more lack of awareness than the Enzo issue because a simple text to his teammate would have been appropriate. Imagine going into next season with the dressing room divided.

  17. As a Brazilian I always saw Argentinians be racist, in the libertadores cup every game they scream racist words, u guys from Europe should ask one thing, why there isn't black players in Argentina? They made a cleaning of black people in their country to look more European, it's really disgusting, Enzo lost my respect

  18. Very well said Yannick. Thank you for this video & thank you for always being pure at heart. You are my favorite YouTuber & I’m glad you decided to speak on this. Enzo should be ashamed & hopefully learn from this.

  19. Being a Chelsea fan from Spain and hearing this video and how hypocrite the English are is insane. The chant was racist and it should have a sanction but seeing that he stops the transmission a most important doesn’t sing it needs to show that he at least knows that is wrong. You British are one of the most racist cultures that ever existed, up to this day you can see how they diminish the Spanish speaker even when you are in Spain they have no respect for us or our culture. Calling people from Argentina nazis when you literally fuck up the entire world for hundred of years doing the worsts things possible. Being Spanish Uruguayan gives you the perspective that Europeans are from the outside all for equality for every person but then you read that there is barely any mix marriages or that they exclude people from their equal societies. The video is to condemn and to be sanction but really is that bad as terry saying the n word. Or is that you never say shit about other race or country while you were drunk in private. If you are going to be so sensible about words you should give cavani his money back from the twitter controversy because clearly you know shit about South American culture. Finally the owner of this channel have great content but he liking only the posts that confirms his posture is so cringe.

  20. What Enzo can do to mitigate this :

    1) Setup a scholarship for African Footballer/equivalent charity or donate to it
    2) Get Kante (or another african descend chelsea legend on board the scholarship/foundation.

Footballer needs a better fixer/agent/think tank.

Whatever it is, think before you act. Dont post/livestream sh1t that you dont want people to know (this is the hardest part of all this with everyone chasing clout).

  21. People argue about whether it’s right or wrong singing that in terms of the social/humanities point of view. Enzo, and the Argentine national team, as celebrities, as influencers, as ones who live and work in multicultural places, know singing that meaning they’ll get themselves into troubles. They shouldn’t put that song into their mouths from the start. They play football, not acting for politics.

  22. Enzo is racist and so are his teammates. How many times have Enzo, Emi Martinez, and Julian Alvarez pretend to take a knee before games as if they care? Let's not sugarcoat this. As a person, Enzo is racist. It's the same way that I lost respect to John Terry as a person when he called Rio Ferdinand the N word.
Once a racist, always a racist.

  23. I'm from Argentina, I don't want to justify Enzo or anything like that, I just want to give a little context. In our football culture, it is very internalized and normalized to use racist and homophobic chants, where entire generations have grown up believing that a football stadium was the place to develop these attitudes without measuring the consequences of the serious insult towards rivals. My country has a history full of inequalities as a result of a society divided many decades ago, where people of humble origins and working class are called "black" in a derogatory way by the upper classes, an attitude that was extrapolated to football, making it common to attack the rival with this kind of adjectives. Today many people in my country defend Enzo, explaining that the song is actually a criticism of supposed French "cynicism" and a double moral standard where on the one hand they denounce racism and xenophobia but on the other they take advantage of colonialism to adopt players of African origin. For my part, I in no way agree with that explanation, since it denotes a profound ignorance of the historical process of the French colonies in Africa, reducing everything to a simple "slavery" when the matter is much more complex. Anyway, Enzo already apologized and I believe him, I hope this teaches him and my people a lesson, to learn that we can hurt a lot with our customs and that we can change.

I apologize for my google translate English, great video, keep it up. Greetings from Argentina.

  24. For me he is either racist or idiot
He is 22 not 5, he play in team with French black players so he need to be responsible and respectful
