the one thing hiring southgate/berhalter provide, they act as protection for the players. the media and fans would universally blamed them.

Let’s not celebrate too soon. The real problem is USSF. Until and unless we hire someone better this is all academic. It still seems like there are coaches who want some prominent coaches want nothing to do with the USMNT. If we get another MLS level coach perhaps even without Gregg’s flair for recruiting dual nationals, we haven’t won anything yet. This is definitely a first step, but there are plenty of berhalter clones who would take a couple million to do USSF’s bidding.
