West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez finds himself at the centre of a potential transfer tug-of-war, with Manchester United emerging as a surprise suitor. The news has been revealed by transfer ITK Fabrizio Romano who has claimed the player could is a serious option.

The 26-year-old Mexican had a stellar debut campaign in the Premier League. His dedication and feisty playing style endeared him to West Ham fans, making him a firm favourite at the London Stadium. While his discipline needs work (11 yellow cards), his overall performance caught the eye of Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag.

New West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui is building a new squad for the upcoming season. Despite a revamp being underway, Alvarez appears to be a vital cog in Lopetegui‘s plans. Recent statements by Alvarez himself also suggested a desire to stay at West Ham for at least another season.

West Ham might be hesitant to sell, especially considering Lopetegui’s faith in Alvarez. They’ll likely demand a significant transfer fee, potentially making the deal a hurdle for United.

Alvarez’s future remains shrouded in uncertainty. While seemingly content at West Ham, the offer from United presents a tantalizing opportunity.

West Ham fans cherish Alvarez’s passion and commitment, making him a popular figure at the club. Losing him, particularly to a Premier League rival, would be a significant setback.

  1. Now Ratcliffe and Brailesford are in control of MU, they ain’t overpaying for players anymore. Forget all these fanciful figures, if Alvarez leaves it will be £50/60 mill and he will probs want to go. If he gets unsettled no point in keeping an unhappy player.

  2. Is it me or are we more at risk of us loosing top class players than buying any? I See Maatsen has signed for Villa. I thought we were after him?

  3. I don’t think any player in our side is untouchable. But, in the press it’s looking like we’re gonna change our entire starting 11 or thereabouts. That’s just a bucket of nonsense.

  4. As a Mexican, your saving grace is that Edson is a life long MAN CITY fan. Might be willing to stay if you build the team around him.

  5. Alvarez is a great player and going to a top club is always on his mind can’t blame him it’s his future, but please pay up £ ⚒⚒⚒⚒🙏🏽

  6. Gio, we will never finish in the top four if we continue to sell our best players, Alonso said a few weeks ago that WH should build our team around Alvarez, yet here we are, talking about selling him. I know we have to sell now and then, but certain players should not be for sale.

  7. For those who don't understand the "El Machin" meaning: Its a play on the word Macho. The nickname was received when he was small and he would not be scared to confront people older to him, so Machin could have been given to him in a somewhat sarcastic manner. The nickname could be seen as "Little Macho"-ish.

  8. I agree I'm not offended by players wanting to play for Champions League Clubs. If they do that it means they have done well for us and we have been successful. We just reinvest ala the Steidten modal and go again. We will sell one high profile player this summer. I think that will be Bowen as he is least suited to J Lo system (ie he pushes full backs forward). That affects Bowen's position. Liverpool sell Salah to Saudi for £100 Million and bid £75 Million for Bowen (we won't get £100 Million for him as he's 27). Alverez, Paquetta and Kudus are younger.

  9. Knowing that Newcastle need to sell, Arsenal wouldn’t pay £100 million for Bruno Guimarães. Same as Man U won’t pay £80 million for Braithwaite. It’s a buyers market in both those examples. West Ham aren’t desperate for money so can suggest and hold firm on ridiculous prices for their players as they don’t need to sell.

  10. As a Mexican myself, I believe Edson is vital to WestHam.

Therefore he’s not worth more than 60M. I can se him being sold for 52M-57M. Giving WestHam a 15M-20M profit.

Anything more than 60M is excessive and risky for any team to spend.

If he’s a 7 out of 10 player than your going to get paid for the value of so. About 43M-48M.

    Cheers.
