  1. Extra Time.
Guys, we need Angelo Stiller and we need to move now before another big team snaps him up. I was looking at Guirassy and I saw Stiller, he's Rice with better passing, he's so good we need to get him, If he goes to a Real or Barca im going to be f*cking fuming.

  2. So we all know Arteta wants competition for every position. Do you think he's pushing for Calafiori instead of the other players you both listed that could also fit that roll to compete with Ben White for the most Handsome? Maybe Ben was getting to big of an ego…

  3. Sane as your ideal signing is a mad take. He has been extremely underwhelming in the recent couple season. Surely as your ideal signing someone like Williams would make more sense

  4. Hey Charles. I think i've said it before but i think Arsenal should at least look at Dortmund's Adeyemi and my guess is that the German player rumored we are talking to is Adeyemi. He is still raw but we can give him time as we have good squad depth around the sides. Very similar profile to Neto or Mudryk who we've looked at in the past. Lighting pace, able to cover both flanks and left footed which looks definitely like a Saka backup profile.

I know he didn't reached the expectation at Dortmund but if Arteta uses Adeyemi, he might grow into that X factor player! When i looked at him at the champions league final last season, yes he did missed some good opportunities but the way he moved and provided the most threat just seemed like what Arsenal lacks right now. Dortmund are willing to sell, just like Calafiori he does look like a market opportunity out there.

Kind of relates to who we are going to sign as a backup to Saka this summer as well. We are running out of options as Olise moved to Bayern and Neto's injury concern is a big thing. Unless we pull some surprise signing, i can't see Saka handling a whole season this year. He will definitely be injured if we don't sign some suitable backup. The boy is strong, but he is a human being. Almost 3 yrs without a suitable backup and getting tackled ruthlessly every game.

  5. 20:20 What???
It is evident Arteta prefers his " no. 6" to be a deep lying playmaker and break lines with passing. That is kimmich's best attribute. He can dictate the game while rice mops up and occasionally gets forward. How do most Arsenal fans still think rice can dictate the play while he can't find odegaard in the pockets to save his life.

  6. In a nutshell, from my own analysis; Calafiori is bringing the ability to play in midfield as a defender from (LB/LCB) adding to our ability to progress the ball against an aggressive press, adding quality in ball progression thru midfield allowing us to push forward more players from midfielders into the final 3rd while keeping us secure defensively against a counter attack, because of his pace and tackling ability.

The fact he can occupy a lot of positions and be dynamic and securely comfortable with the ball, with very strong passing and chance creation qualities, means Rice can be deployed as the DM even though he’s still not that good progressing the ball vertically. That would mean we can buy in this window a world class LAM (no8) like Musiala to aide with the left sided duties similar to what Odegaard and Saka do on the right.

Significantly, Timber can do the same on the right, what Calafiori does on the left; carrying the ball into and thru midfield with consummate accuracy and authority. This will be determined by the opponents style on the day.

Last season Odegaard dropped in goals output because he came too deep to do what was supposed to be done by Rice; carrying the ball deep from the defenders and turning into a press, beating it and getting the ball out from the back thru midfield upfront into the final 3rd, too much work for one man but Odegaard did it game after game every time Rice played, because Rice is still pathetic at this key aspect, you saw the Euro group games so far, and the fact that all the points we dropped last season was when Rice played no6.

So Calafiori and Timber ability to invert into midfield and progress the ball upfield with quality will mean Odegaard can predominantly spend more time in the final 3rd where his ability on the ball will definitely hurt opposition like he did the previous season scoring 15 non penalty goals, add that to the possibly new left sided offensive no8 profile like Musiala.

Another key factor; a definite upgrade on Martinelli whose main weakness is failure to scan while on the ball! We lose a lot of quality when we play a low block because Martinelli is deadly running behind into spaces, less scanning needed as the decision is made once early. But a low block means tight control under pressure and Saka is king there because he plays with his eyes ⬆️ up all the time and is able to change decisions, direction, feints, and deliver a different pass or cross or take a shot as the permutations of opposition positional play allows. Not Martinelli! That’s why in the Brazil team they just bring him in later when the game is very open. That’s why Trossard eventually got more and more of the game time last season. It had nothing to do with Martinelli being poor, we faced more and more of games with a lot more deeper blocks; neutralizing his effectiveness for us. Trossard like Saka is comfortable in tight pressure situations because he is good with the ball and plays with his eyes up ⬆️ like Saka. So I definitely believe Nico Williams is a solid possibility for this reason; he’s faster than Trossard and then has everything Trossard has if not more; two footed, crosses/shoots both feet, devastating dribbling/takeons; plays with his eyes up ⬆️ like Saka and we need that on the left a lot! And he can cover Saka on the RW consummately.

Kai Havertz is UNTOUCHABLE @9🔥🔥🔥📈 he keeps everyone ♻️ devastating and cannot be marked out of the game like Halaand (who registered Zero shots against us 3 games in a row!)and doesn’t get involved with the team build up play often or with any effectiveness.

Trossard will play no9 backup. Martinelli will have games that suit him when we play CL or big teams that are arrogant and think to go toe to toe with us.

    Kudos and COYG!

  7. Charles i couldn't agree more about not rating Kimmich as a 6 at Arsenal. I watch the bundesliga religiously and I always rated him as a right back, for his absolutely clinical crosses into the box, and his very solid, disciplined man marking. But somehow as a 6 he just doesn't seem that dynamic, or a physical presence. And his penchant for good final balls ends up getting wasted across a full 90 because with Bayern's patient possession style, he defaults to pottering about in front of the defense, being a very neat and mechanical switch of play merchant. That's not to say he's a bad midfielder per se, just that he isn't ideal for Arsenal in that role, least of all considering his outspoken personality, his lack of chemistry with some coaches and players historically, his wages, his age, the fact he seemingly wants to play solely as a midfielder alledgedly etc.
But yeh imagine the scenes if we somehow pulled off musiala. Hell maybe it could be someone quite under the radar like Maxi Beier or Angelo Stiller

  8. Charles, any thoughts on Max Bieir. A versatile forward player, young, apparently there's a cheap release clause, and would fit the "out of the blue" unexpected transfer Arteta and Edu have surprised us with in the past.

    Cheers, Matt

  9. Apologies in advance for my comment not much related to this video.
But, outcome of this election reminds me a friend of mine from Germany who came to see Arsenal for the first time.
He thought Arsenal supporters are so passionate about politics when he heard they were singing 'North London is Red!'
I found it funny so didn't tell him what actually means!

  10. We talked about a left sided defender a lot during the season. I’m not surprised at all! Love this signing, I think he really unlocks Martinelli 💯🔥

  11. All due respect I think that it being a mystery German and you guys not even mentioning musiala or wirtz is crazy to me! They would by far and away be my top picks for a mystery German to play alongside odegaard centrally or potentially even on the wing (unless of course those are the names you can’t mention 😉)

  12. "I'd love Sane as a Saka backup" Jesus Christ.

It's actually amazing how arrogant some of our fans are, Leroy Sane walks into our starting XI every day of the week.

  13. I don’t think Calafiori means Kiwior HAS to go necessarily. I think in an ideal world we would have 8 defenders. Excluding Tierney & Tavares, Calafiori would be our 8th. Now granted it would mean our defensive options would lean heavily towards left sided options.

So if Kiwior wants to leave then we should definitely let him, but we don’t NEED to if the price isn’t right. If Kiwior does leave, I think we’ll need another defender, ideally a right sided player to make it 8.

  14. Hi Charles. Germany are out of the Euros, surely we can expect the speed at which we chase this mystery German to pick up now.
The name that you’ve heard, can you at least confirm the team they play for?

  15. I think Arteta's plan is to able to invert from both sides to target each team's weaknesses. With Calafiori and Timber on the right we would have Timber inverting and with Zinchenko and White we would have Zinchenko inverting.

  16. Squad building is about smartly allocating your limited amount of resources to assemble the best squad you can. This Calafiori move just isn't what proper squad building is about – and yes, I know he is a good player who can play at LB and CB.

  17. Hi Charles with Calafiori coming in I’ve a funny feeling Arteta is gonna cash in on Gabriel.
He had his head turned start of last season.
That’s why he was dropped for the opening games of last season.

Arteta has shown he’s ruthless ie Ramsdale.
    What’s your thoughts ?

    Cheers

  18. Morning Charles….

We are not worried about any moves for Gabriel are we??

…the realisation as i was going to sleep that Calafiori could be coming in because a huge bid again is imminent was too much for me to handle

Where is our cover for Saliba? And why do you think this hasnt been addressed as well as the left side??
