He had his chance. People thought he was going to be amazing and he hasn't reached the heights. I feel Brainthwait could be similar to when we signed Rio a young CB to grow and then set the standard for years to come. I just feel De ligt wouldn't come to United and be motivated to bring us back.

His CURRENT wages would put him on over double what Martinez is on, and more than THREE times what Dalot is on 😵💫 so I think De Ligt would cause a domino effect of expensive contracts, especially in defence 😕

For 42m & wages less than 200k it's a no brainer. He's one of the best defenders in Europe plus him & Ten Hag have worked together before it's a no brainer. I think he'll revive his career under Ten Hag
I think de Ligt definitely improves the team. Young, good on the ball, great box defender, decent in the air, great leader. My concerns are he's not quick and likes defending on the front foot which is exactly how Martinez defends. Ideally, it's better to have someone who likes to cover behind the more the aggressive front-footed defender in the same way Varane did for Licha and with de Ligt alongside Licha, you'd have a very aggressive CB partnership that could be easily exposed with balls in behind them.
So did Anthony and Van der Beek.. both know ETH system inside out and look how they turn out.
Anthony injuries record is good but quality is shitee for United.

Martinez is the only one who is doing well but his injury hasn't been great. They are ok.
Until Martinez play a full season of 50 games without injury; would I believe he is here for long term.
