[Music] [Applause] [Music] so Phil yeah we’re we’re here in Cologne and we’re for the the game Spain against Georgia yes were you nervous before the game was I nervous before the game I I wasn’t really very nervous before the game cuz I thought Spain were clearly the favorites and and and we’re going to go through cuz they were the better side I mean uh yeah I’m you know supporting Spain even I live and work there I was a little bit nervous when Georgia took the lead I have to say cuz Spain had come out in this game and uh were absolutely dominating it was only a matter of time before the goal was to come but the goal did come but it wasn’t for Spain Georgia taking the goal taking the lead against a run of play an extraordinary fashion with an amazing break and the fans went absolutely crazy it was amazing to see um and they were good value for uh for it you know they were they were well organized Georgia they they looked a little bit died in the second half cuz they didn’t have the ball for much but when they broke they looked dangerous they caused Spain some problems and yeah it was a much closer game than I thought it was going to be I mean that that the strategy was obviously to sit deeper take on the onsa from Spain get bodies behind the ball they did that very well and obviously if they got through M mad really was excellent again in that first half in particular put off some really really big saves um the goal goes in and Spain were rocked a little bit they were a little bit shaken by that goal well listen Spain for me are the team of the tournament at the moment they are the team to beat they’ve been the most impressive side in the competition but they do have a little bit of a glass chin they are a little bit weak a little bit vulnerable when when they concede goals they takes a while for them to regroup and get their shape back um they hadn’t conceded the goal in this tournament so far that was the first goal that they had they did concede and because it was so against the Run of play yeah they were they were a little bit rocked uh in that first half then in the second half they they scored right at the start of the uh of the second half to take the lead and that kind of killed the contest a little bit but yeah for a while in that first half they um they looked a bit shaky so there are things for Spain to improve on um they looked a little bit ragged defensively I thought out wide with the Georgia managed to get in behind them both you know behind the left back and the right backer a few times Spain defending very very very very high up the pitch which they probably won’t do against most teams let’s be honest because most teams won’t sit as deep but yeah I thought overall Spain were you know much the better team despite a bit of a bit of a dodgy 20 minutes in the first half is this a a new period for Spain I mean Lin yamal you’re a massive fan of his um he was again exciting look I I thought it was exciting and PCT let him down today he had a couple really big chances and scuff shots not even getting on target not great saves so that was the only question mark I have over him still is about that end product niiko Williams had has had that question over him as well right but it was a fantastic finish tonight that he scored um and then you look at pedri in Midfield I mean I I thought pedri was a little bit quiet maybe he was he has been quiet he’s still not at 100% Pedro I mean he was taken off at the start of the second half he’s he’s not at his best and maybe he is you know one of the weak points in this Spain team and maybe we might see Dani ELO come in for him at some point um but otherwise those two WID men look so so exciting and it’s true let me y has I mean he only graduated from high school this week s he passed his exams this week to graduate from high school um and then he comes and and plays so well here tonight he was absolutely terrific down that right hand side and the thing is with laminal you know what he’s going to do everyone he’s going a cut back on his his left foot everybody knows and he still does it he’s still he’s absolutely brilliant and Nico is a bit older Nico’s 21 he still very young but he’s 21 Leal is still 16 and Nico looks absolutely bris he’s getting better and better that’s the thing with NI William he’s getting better and better and he scored a brilliant brilliant goal today he’s so quick he’s so uh intelligent and if he can add goals consistently to his game he’s going to be a world class player I mean see the goals today goals came from rodri Ruiz Williams and Danny Elmo Danny ELO scored now four in his last seven appearances for Spain he’s a bit of a superstar like you said possibly should be starting this side because it does they look like a different team when he’s in the team yeah I think he’s the 12th man at the moment uh but and he does have a good scoring record for for Spain as well so if there is going to be a change to the starting 11 and the thing is it’s a settled starting 11 for Spain this was the same 11 that really comprehensively outplayed Italy in the second group game so I think Luis Ed more or less knows his starting 11 the one change could be Danielo coming into it but otherwise I think you know for that very tasty looking quarterfinal against Germany uh at the weekend we probably know the starting level do you fancy Spain against Germany I what you saying we’ve seen Germany but we’ve seen a lot more Spain I mean you know I think it’ll be a great game I think it’s the two best teams in the tournament so far um from what we’ve seen and um you know laminar niik Williams Jamal musala um floran vers If he if he you know performs like we know he can so yeah there’s some terrific young Talent on displaying that game do you see Spain as being the favorites now I don’t know I mean people are saying that they are the favorites because of you know even before this game people were saying that Spain was the favorites given um given their performances they’re on the wrong side of the group to of the draw to be favorites and we’ll get on to England in a in a minute who are on the right side of the draw in theory so if they’re going to they’re going to win this tournament they’re going to have to play Germany and then possibly uh France I think in the uh in the quarterfinals in the semi-finals so France or Portugal so it’s it’s the wrong side of the draw to make them out and out favorites but in terms of the most impressive team I think they’re still the most impressive team from what we see we saw Germany last night they beat Denmark but we didn’t come away from that thinking wow what an incredible performance from from Germany here you know Spain like I said slightly Rocky 20 minutes in the in the first half but generally speaking pretty good but I think what you see with Spain there are vulnerabilities we know that there are there are especially against a better side even though as much as Georgia did incredibly well in this tournament they’re exciting to watch the fans are going to be solely missed as well because they were amazing were throughout um but I think it showed that Spain have like all the teams there’s a team so far that you go they are by clear above the favorites even though I thought maybe Portugal would be maybe France would be they’ let us down a little bit in that regard yeah yeah no I know I know and it also shows a strength and depth in this uh in this competition as well because we’ve seen Georgia the lowest ranked team I’m getting I’m getting dripped on here are you getting dripped on I’m not getting dripped on yet but I probably will be if we stick around for much longer cuz the rain has been quite heavy but we’ve seen the the lowest ranked team in the competition Georgia who are ranked 74th I’ve got my list again schwar if you want I’ve got the list usbekistan Cape verie islands North Macedonia they’re all ranked higher in the world than uh than Georgia and yet we’ve seen them qualify for the last 16 and give a good account of themselves against one of the favorites in in Spain so I think the standard generally has been pretty high at these Euros in terms of the lower ranked teams being able to compete we’ll get on to Slovakia against England in just a moment but we saw there the level of uh competitivity as well so um yeah I think uh I think we saw the the strength and depth in this competition there haven’t really been any really weak teams maybe apart from Scotland possibly yeah I think you might be right there but anyway it’s time for where it’s one one and lost or one all lost um from tab what have you got for me what have I got for you yeah I think it was uh one and loss with that goal right at the start of the second half for Spain because it had it continued to be 1-1 Spain dominating but Georgia looking dangerous on the Counterattack then maybe it could have been a different game but scoring right at the start of the second half um felt like a a big big moment and then from then on it felt like it it was one for for Spain I’m going to go with rodri’s Goal because I think that broke their their the back a little bit there there was a moment of you thought okay if they can hold on a bit longer they can frustrate Spain Spain were a little bit ragged um their their passing was off they were shocked to be one n behind especially after Domina the half so so much from that point so I’m going to go with that moment in the in the game where it was one for visit gambling hel online.org Au England Slovakia were the first game of the evening we got to watch pretty much most of it certainly up to unfortunately yeah up to extra time we watch bits through the extra time yeah same old problems for England right I mean even worse I mean it was was just uh what do we say England won I mean if you’re watching or listening you know that England won in the end uh Jude Bellingham scoring a 93rd minute bicycle kick to take the game to extra time and then Harry Kane scoring and then England hanging on sitting back and defending that that 2-1 lead it was so bad from England there was just again the same old problems no ideas everything was slow um I was watching with some Spanish Journal and some journalists that work in Spain and they were saying to me like everything like England are set up wrong the players are in the wrong positions when they receive the ball so their bodies are in the wrong positions when they’re getting the ball which means they have to take more than one touch to control it which just slows everything down there’s there’s like structurally it seems wrong uh nobody played well again nobody played well who played well in this game for England well I think maybe Kobe Mayo I thought was their better player I thought he was one of their better players I thought he made a difference Midfield I thought that was definitely a positive in the in the selection um for for England but yeah other than that I mean Jude Bellingham scores an unbelievable goal in the 94th minute after a discreet performance by by his standards and then Harry Kane scores again so you know you have to judge players by uh big moments and the big players produced two big moments but boy it was just again the same I mean we were here literally in this Stadium a few days ago for England against Slovenia and that was nil nil and and that was stultifyingly boring and static this was I mean in the first half Slovakia could have been 3-0 up yeah I mean they defended so badly in the first half let alone what they did with the ball the defending for the SL defending for the Slovakia goal is comical like genuinely comical if you’re a if you’re a Scotland fan watching that you are laughing your head off because England was so so poor um yeah they got away with it they really got away with it today England tactically I think got it wrong as well I mean they Whi balls into the box uh they tried to put de braer under under pressure he dealt with everything that came towards him it was time and time again the same sort of balls England weren’t able to to cause any real threats with the kind of players that they have as well getting the ball in the box like that is kind of really doesn’t work with them right when you got players like you know Phil phone sacka these guys who are creativity you want the ball on on the on the on the deck more I know I know look I know B can go in there I know bam scores an overhead in the end but that’s just desperate measures in the end it was a long throw into the box and somehow Bellinger managed to score a bicycle kick I mean just contrast it with what we’ve seen here tonight with Spain and their two wide players in Niko Williams and laminal and contrast the the movement and the um creativity and adventurous and inventiveness from them to what we saw from England’s players in in the similar positions Phil foden and sacka I mean sacka ended the game playing a left back because Cole Palmer came on uh and he was a little bit better but I mean yeah it was just a another really underwhelming performance from England I mean the the problem is the substitutions as well only Cole Palmer came on in the 70 off minute or so then there were in total three substitutions Tony came on the 94th minute yeah um and he made a difference he actually made a difference he he was instrumental in the in in uh hurri Kane’s uh assist didn’t he he got an assist for it just about yeah well he did got an assist right got a header across I mean that’s desperation right and and that’s I think the biggest question marks over Gareth and had been in previous tournaments and even more so on this one his reluctance to change to throw caution to the Wi yeah yeah yeah totally with the players that he has he has incredibly tal talented player I mean E I thought again I thought a was a good player that came on I thought he made a difference had more energy um and caused Slovakia more problems and I think that going forward England I think England have to make changes they’re not going to you think so I mean what changes do you think is going to make for the quarterfinal against Switzerland Switzerland team we saw them yesterday they press High England have had real problems bringing the ball out from the back and doing something with the the ball when they come out from the back throughout the whole tournament against the Switzerland side that press high they need to come up with something different because otherwise they’re going to struggle like Italy did I’ll give you a stat England’s first shot on goal was Jude bellingham’s equalizer yeah yeah yeah we were saying haven’t had a shot on Target Two Shots on target the whole game yeah I mean de Rice hit the post from a long distance uh effort that doesn’t count as On Target so course not no no yeah so that is a big problem with all the attacking threats that they have there’s no end product and that’s on the manager right well certainly tactically it’s set up it’s not set up right it’s not it’s not working they need to change something desperately otherwise you would think in the next round it’s going to be a little bit more difficult for them because Switzerland like you said are a good side they’re well organized and they will hurt England if england are not on their game I agree I agree and I I kind of fancy Switzerland at the moment you know we if it’s frh in the mins we saw England today we were in the stadium watching Switzerland yesterday and of the two night and day I mean genuinely Mark Gay sus Spiner for quarterfinals yeah the question is okay so he’s got to make another substitution he’s got to change that who do you see coming in cuz there’s lots of options I mean coner could come in Walker then come across they could bring Trent Alexander arold in his right back walker could play as a center half yeah I’m not sure yeah I’m D I mean coner is the one that you know came on today and I think um he’s had some minutes in this competition and he’s possibly the one you know the most like for like and uh in the driving seat but I actually um I’m not sure I might I I might play Kyle Walker there and uh and and Trent at right back but I you I don’t think he’s going to do that yeah the thing is about with that is you’ve got you’ve got actual Center halves on the bench yeah so why would you bring a right side of player that yes has played normally on the right side of a back three not necessarily as a center half why would you do that to get TR in the team yeah but I mean I know what you’re saying I do like Trent at right back but I also who’s going to play at left back well that’s that’s big question Luke Shaw well Luke Shaw that’s his other thing right I mean that that’s actually what’s months yeah and that’s the biggest issue right having a player in your squad is your only out and out left back yeah that has been out for such a long time per uh with injury and only start training last week with the team well yes uh work for England to do ahead of that uh quarterfinal but listen like we said they’re on the they’re on the right side of the draw they’ve squeezed past Slovakia they’ve got a you know on paper a more attractive looking fixture against Switzerland but Switzerland are no mugs they’re a good team and they will beat England if england if they’re playing like they did today Switzerland will beat England can you see so you see your your do you think England will get beaten or do you think they’ll get through do you think they will do you think they’ll get the job done I mean they did they got the job done today regardless of the performance in the endend they got the job done they did that’s the thing about this team this team has the ability to pull something out of the against Slovakia yeah but they’ve done it so far they’ve done enough they’ve finished on Five Points to go out of the group they’ve beaten Slovakia in The Knockout stage it doesn’t matter who it is we saw today Spain had moments where there was a little bit of a you know they were a little bit rocked by by by Georgia but then they took control of the game England haven’t really done that yet but they’ve got the ability to do so they’ve got incredible individuals who at the moment are not playing in a system that allows them to flour and get the best out of their individual Talent so if by some I’m not going to say Miracle but uh you know fate of Fortune they manag to find a way to do that between now and the game against Switzerland then England will win if they play like they did today and against Slovenia and against Serbia and against Denmark they will lose against Switzerland well that’s all we got time for today we are going to be tomorrow at Portugal Slovenia which is in Frankfurt so very much looking forward to that seeing which Portugal team turns up whether it’s Cristiano Ronaldo in that 11 which we think he will be of course he must be and whether they get back to winning ways which they need to otherwise that’ll be a massive favorite getting knocked out of the tournament I can’t see them getting knocked out can you listen is Slovenia knockout Portugal wow that would be extraordinary so yeah but we’ll
