Now I'm no Southgate fan – in fact I can't stand watching England – but the English fans are the most deluded I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure most of these are of the Internet kind, who take memes to be truth, but still, the number that are talking as though getting Southgate out will solve all their problems is bonkers to me. When their previous manager was Big Sam Allardyce, and Roy Hodgson before him. Not to mention the man before him was Fabio Capello, the modern proponent of the Catenaccio system. So you show Southgate the door, then what? You bring in Graham Potter? Who starts feeling the pressure within minutes, finds another level of negativity in English football and is soon in self-preservation mode. While managers of the calibre of Klopp won't come within an astronomical unit of the job. Get real!
