Weston Mckennie has been linked with a move to MLS side FC Cincinnati. Would this be too soon for the USMNT star to come to MLS at 25?

  1. I mean, I wouldn’t be a fan of it due to his status on the MNT but to be fair Poland have Swiderski and Slisz, Saba at Georgia, Uronen, Taylor, Lod at Finland, Morgan got called up to Scotland due to his form, Shaqiri Swiss, the list goes on and on and doesn’t even include Copa America. Is the league where it needs to be no, but it’s not as bad as what people think

  2. I think this is a more realistic move than people realize.

There is no risk at losing his USMNT spot with an MLS coach (Berhlater) in charge. McKennie could even come in on a 2-3 year deal, get a fat paycheck & go back to Europe after WC.

MLS will offer more money, that is the leagues super power. It’s going to come down wether McKennie’s ego will allow him to make this kind of move in his prime.

With that being said, money talks.

  3. You know McKennie turned down Juventus’ offer for the same amount of money that he was making right? He wanted an increase in salary. He should take their offer and get a sponsorship from someone.

  4. I want to see some American talent coming back from Europe but not Weston. I think he should take the best job he can in Europe for two years. After the WC, if he wants to come back home, that would be great. It's way to early for him right now.

  5. Well I think bradley kept his place because the team was not good back then. Now there are a lot of young hungry players. If mckennie goes to the MLS, i think he loses his starting spot as the younger players develop more in europe

  6. McKennie can barely maintain weight in a top league in Europe, if he comes back to MLS now can you imagine how out of shape he will get! He's looking for cruise control…

  7. Bradley was at the end of his European career (29); McKennie is only now entering the prime of his career.
Bradley remained relevant within the USMNT player pool because there was no-one to challenge him (Replaced after 2018 by Trapp, Nagbe, and eventually Adams). That's not the case with Musah, Reyna, Tillman, and Cardoso all able to step in now and a host of others emerging at the U23 level.
There are a host of other USMNT players who'll come to MLS before McKennie….Ream, Turner, Horvath, McKenzie, CCV, Weah, & Luca DLT are some of the names that come to mind. Lastly if the USMNT does as bad as I expect during the COPA, Gregg will be fired and a new manager may have some brains and want players who are challenging themselves as well as playing well.

  8. Idk if I am McKennie I would take it coming back to the us for 10 million a year in America that’s to good to pass up in my opinion unless he gets close to 10 million in Europe which I don’t think he will
Unless he goes to England maybe

  9. at the end of the day its the player decision . I highly doubt the player think about the fans however I do agree if the money is right the probability of him going is there but at the end of the its rumor's until we get a "Here we go" from Fabrizio its backroom talk from agents

  10. Do I think it could happen? Seems like it will. Do I want it to happen? Absolutely not. It’ll be Good for MLS but bad for US soccer and hopefully it doesn’t create a snowball effect of more players coming back. home.

  11. Juventus doesn't value McKennie. I was pissed that he wasn't getting a Wage Increase. It doesn't work like that. Hopefully he stays in Europe to develop. Cincinnati is a viable option in terms of Financial Incentives. We'll watch this Carefully this Summer.

  12. This would be hands down the worst thing to happen to the USMNT since they failed to qualify for the world cup. This man can stay in Europe until hes 34 then come to MLS and make 10 million per year. This is insane. Horrible move.

  13. My Issue isn’t just McKennie potentially going back to MLS.. my issue is this won’t stop with just McKennie. Once they get one they’ll be after the whole team until we’re in the same situation Mexico is with LigaMX. If Cincy gets Weston, you don’t think NYCFC or another club won’t be trying to bring Reyna back home for a big paycheck after the poor season he’s had in Europe? You don’t think the Revs will do everything they can to bring Matt Turner back to MLS after not playing at Nottingham Forest? Does the Union try and bring back Aaronson if he struggles again?

What happens if Pulisic has a mediocre season at Milan next year? You don’t think LA Galaxy will try to make him the 2nd highest paid player in the league?

This is what’s going to happen if Weston goes to MLS. It will turn us into Mexico who’s the biggest embarrassment to the international stage there is right now

  14. Why is McKennie coming to Cincinnati ridiculous? Messi went to Miami. I know there's an age difference but Messi is much higher talent too.
Berding was an exec for the Bengals, Lidner is a business millionaire, and Albright turned 3x wooden spoons into supporters shield. These guys aren't stupid. They know what they're doing.
