To play centrally you need to be an instinctive passer. Both feet, facing any way. Not flashy passing now and again like Bruno. Trent is a great passer but midfield is different.

Why is everyone overlooking the left back situation
Harry kane is the problem,we won't win a trophy with him upfront,you saw it against Iceland he drops into centre mid everytime and makes it easy for teams to close up shop,he has zero pace so can't run at defenders,when Toney came on England were more dangerous he was running at defenders getting in behind causing problems,kane just drops right back into midfield trying through balls and short passes,I think if we played Toney or Watkins we could win the tournament.
Don’t under any circumstances play Trent in any sort of defensive role. If you want to know why watch the video of him against mitoma for Brighton or him against Napoli and imagine him against mbappe or Vinicius jr.
Trent can't even be disciplined in his own position, let alone a completely knew role. Why try something now?
Im a Liverpool fan and Rooney was right Trent is awful at defending! It dont make any sense playing him in any defensive role because all his bad attributes are defensive and all his brilliant attributes are attacking so if he gets used he should get used in an attacking role.

The level of delusion in English media is beyond belief. Again they are talking about knockouts. Are you confident that you will beat Serbia? England might get beat in that game. Very shaky defense, not a very solid midfield, average goalkeeper. These are the basics of being successful in tournament football. Teams can win matches in tournament football by being limited in offense. But teams cannot win football matches in tournament football against highly motivated quality opponents by being brittle.
