If you've got any specific questions/angles you'd like me to address in future videos on Flick, let me know 🙂
The primary reason why Flick failed with the national team is that the Berlin regime first and foremost forced its ultra-left ideology upon him and the team(you may remember the kneeling at the world championship for instance) ; the same is going to happen to Nagelsmann now. Thats a thing a team manager is absolutely powerless against. I am optimistic that he is able to repeat the Bayern stunt in Barcelona if the presidency is intent on having his back. I wish him all the best and who knows, as a longtime Munich resident I may become a Barca fan
Yes
finally a realistic good analysis of Flick's game and not just stupid optimism. with Flick i'd say Barca won't change too much. Possession football is dead, and many teams have demonstrated that you can defend effectively and destroy your opponent who has 60+ possession on the counter.
Can't help but feel that Madrid are going to blow Barca out of the water next season.
GOAT!
i would slightly disagree with "ignore [formations like] 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, it tells you nothing" as it sounds like a very absolute statement. i disagree less due to being stuck to said formation, and more that I usually find those formations to serve a good basis for how the teams drift into fluid positions like 2-3-5 and similar on the attack. you can see the players' positions in the "original" on-paper formations, and usually make very solid estimations on where they will drift during different situations. like the left center midfielder in a 4-3-3 is much more likely to drift up into the left channels and spaces than they would be to drift through to overlap on the right or similar. there's usually some fluidity where they can drift elsewhere regardless of team, but those aren't situations where the on-paper formation would make sense to use in the first place, because those imply it's either a deadball, or a more chaotic transition where they fill the space as needed closest to them.
so i partially agree: don't marry the idea that they're locked to their on-paper position, but they do base most of their movements from something that would resemble that on paper since they have to physically cover the distance to drift into other spaces. other than that slight nag it's another very solid piece of analysis from you. keep them coming!
Where's the person that daid you fell off?😂
Also, yes. A mini series on Hansi Flick would be nice✨️
Hoping for more flick and Barca videos
There are definitely problems at Barcelona – they conceded 44 goals this season compared to 20 last year (that's over double) and many times you're scratching your head wondering if the defense are actually professionals.
They scored 9 more goals this season despite missing Pedri and Gavi which suggests that unless they contribute to saving goals, they are really not contributing to scoring goals. I don't believe these two players are anything like Xavi and Iniesta.
Then there's Lewandowski who can easily score 50 goals and scoring crazy things as he's not getting service and falling back to give service to everyone else. It makes no sense – he's the danger. He needs to stay up top to keep the other team honest as he needs a split second to score.
In my opinion I the biggest reason Xavi and Flick are different is that Flick is consistent throughout the match
While Xavi will just play more submissively as soon as he gets some goals amd let the other team recover which hurts us a lot this season
Couple that with his lack of tactical response to the other managers changes was a lethal combination that killed our season early
I think the biggest flaw Xavi had was that he was inexperienced. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "It'll be Flick's experience that'll help us more than his tactics". We all saw how Xavi crumbled against PSG after Araujo red; if he had Flick's experience, the result would have been very different.
whatever it is I hope I do not fall sleep watching, it has been a few years like this…
Nice video dude!
so, what would've you picked as first choice?
Forget flick for a moment… You promised us a deep dive into inzaghi's inter😢
I cant wait for the next flick vid
Love your vids man
People need to start watching the games. I understand why people might want a return to the Pep-era identity of patient, short, horizontal passing, but just because Xavi was on that team doesn’t mean he coached that way. Seeing a lot of “This isn’t Barcelona” anymore when in reality this has been the way Barca have played ever since Enrique came in
Could you please do one of chelsea new headcoach enzo maresca? @thepurist_
It won't be fast, but I believe that under Flick's guidance, Barca will emerge with a new game, an aggressive, German-style attacking game
Barca fan here! I think the big issie with Xavi was that he didn't know how how to coach in the final third. We really struggled to create chances and provide the number 9. I dont think Xavi is at the level required. I believe Flick is. This will be the difference.
Would have loved Nagelsmann mann, but I believe in Flick as well💪🏻
i have this gut feeling that either this will go as super bad or we will end of winning all trophy next season. with flick
It's a HUGE upgrade!!!!
Here's a good rule of thumb:
– Elite and Experienced managers, with proven track-records, and trophies to show, are generally better than Newly started and inexperienced managers who has no idea how to handle in-game management…
You are welcome 😉
The difference between Flick and Xavi is monumental! They are almost nothing alike. Can't wait to see Barca next season! We need that overhaul! (we've been needing it for years)
Curious to know what would be The Purist Football preferred pick for a Barcelona coach.
People should do a research on why flick was fired from German national team, uprecedented act of sacking so far.
dear channel owner!
could you write me your email address due to business inquiry?
looking forward to your answer!
all the best, Oliver.
I’m still no sold on him… but we will see what he brings to the table. Barcelona players just need to stay healthy to even begin a system.
I think people should really drop the barça DNA thing and stop looking for what fits barça or what not , maybe it's time for a change
Great video please make more barca videos
Barcelona can thank Xavi for a job well done.
The biggest change and most important for me and i think many fans is the mentality change. Xavi never criticized his players and his transfer targets just seemed so odd. Flick has already reversed the decision to resign Roberto, Olmo is no longer a target and flick actually acknowledges that Barca has an endurance and stamina issue. Xavi just wouldnt acknowledge anything negative hed always point the finger but never in the right direction.
Barcelona did not play with excessive verticality under Xavi – it was quite the opposite.
i would to like to see Hansi Flick series
I love your page more of Flick content please. I need to learn about his style of play and motivation technique
One difference i would say is the clarity of how the team plays. Xavi was still finding his feet as a manager. Flicks experience is the trump card.
Lewandowski
Gavi Pedri Yamal
Frenkie de Jong Gundogan
Balde Araujo Kounde Cancelo
Ter Stegan
Goodluck with that high defense line against Vini, Mbappe and Rodrygo 💀
i don't think he'll celebrate christmas with us
I feel like people need to realize that Barca's biggest problem has nothing to do with tactics. I can't count how many times I've correctly predicted a result simply by looking at our starting eleven. Our biggest problem by far, has been decision making and lack of leadership. How many times have we seen this team claw their way back to win matches simply because we have world class players, even though they had everything going against them, even their manager's decision making.
Flick is an immense upgrade to Xavi, if Xavi was the type of manager Flick was (i.e. character and temperament), with his tactical aptitude he would have solved the CDM problem a long time ago, he simply didn't have the temperament to do it. With Flick we know that if a tactical problem isn't solved, he simply wasn't able to find it, I'd rather have a leader (a great one at that) for this particular crop of players, than a genius tactician.
