City under-18s completed the double over Arsenal with a 2-0 win at Colney on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Mathias Bossaerts and Olivier Ntcham fired Adam Sadler’s men to a first win in four games and their second over Arsenal following the 4-1 triumph back in February.
Sadler was able to select a few regular members of the Elite Development Squad, including under-17 internationals in French midfielder Ntcham and Belgian defender Bossaerts.
There were also starts for under-18 regulars George Glendon, Dominic McHale and Brandon Barker.
It was a slow start to the game with only a couple of half-chances threatening to break the deadlock in the early stages.
A spell of Arsenal dominance followed where the home side began to look dangerous, forcing a good save from Angus Gunn and hitting the post.
This period was ended abruptly when Ntcham opened the scoring after unleashing a powerful left-footed strike from the edge of the box which followed some neat build-up play around the box.
City started the second half brightly, with Barker and McHale both having chances to double their advantage but when the second goal came it was in controversial circumstances.
There was nothing wrong with Bossaerts’ excellent glancing header after he had done well to get across his man at the front post but Arsenal could perhaps consider themselves unfortunate that the linesman flagged for a goal when it looked like the Gunners defender had cleared off the line.
Unfortunately for the North Londoners, there are no plans for goal-line technology to be introduced at this level of football in the immediate future!
After this thorny incident the game became stop-start but with City dominating possession and carving out one or two half-chances.
George Glendon and Ntcham were pulling the strings in the centre of midfield, Dom McHale was causing problems with his electric pace and tight ball control and the back four, led by Bossaerts, defended manfully to see out the game.
City u18s are next in action away at Blackburn Rovers next Saturday morning.

dubbed the group of death. notice 2 of the 4 teams are in the semi-final? united had terrifying group with gala, a romanian club and the 4th best team from liga portuguesa. congrats
0:39 orgasm
There's no way United would have gotten through in Group D.
The group stages are seeded. But the seedings aren't actually that good. United had such an easy group while City had Group D. Should City have gotten the penalty when Ballotelli was brought down? Yes. Did it happen? No. Bad refereeing decisions happen all the time. Sometimes, its all about luck. City had an unlucky group, United had an easy one (no offence to the other teams)
Fuck united, hear the orgasm. XD
Not even the youth team is good, Arsenal…..
